LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood
Reporter) --- Sylvester Stallone has committed to star in and Martin
Burke is in negotiations to direct the black comedy "Avenging
Angelo" for Franchise Pictures, sources said.
Stallone
stars on screen in Franchise's "Get Carter"
for Warner Bros., and he recently wrapped shooting the production
company's race-car action/thriller "Driven"
(aka "Champs"), directed by Renny Harlin.
Written by Will Aldis and
Steve Mackall, "Avenging" is about a woman who
discovers that she is the daughter of a mafioso. When the man
is killed by a hit man, she becomes empowered by her newly discovered
roots and embarks on a mission to avenge his death. Joining her
in the mission is her father's loyal bodyguard (Stallone).
He becomes her teacher and protector, and a romance blossoms.
As yet, no other cast is set for the project, and there is no
firm start date. Don Carmody will produce with Franchise's Elie
Samaha and Andrew Stevens, along with Stanley Wilson.
Franchise Pictures executive
vp Andrew Kramer is negotiating the deal on behalf of the company.
Stallone
is repped by WMA. Burke is repped by CAA. |
