Chris DiBari provides this week’s Stallone piece. It’s Chris’ take on Sly as Deke DaSilva in Nighthawks. (Excellent choice and an excellent job!) I met Chris, who is also a big Stallone fan, at Heroes Con this year. This was my first piece by Chris, but hopefully won’t be my last.

This was by far the biggest banner I’ve seen so far. it is HUGE and they were just putting it up and I was able to get a few pictures while they were installing it.
Here is another poster. And as you can see, this is the headquarters office for Nu Image.
Here is another seat bench on Wilshire Blvd with THE EXPENDABLES on it And by the way. having THE EXPENDABLES posters on benches and bus stops made it a lot more fun to take the bus.

The Guardian decided to pull a frame every six seconds from an “Expendables” trailer and here’s what they came up with.
The photo above of Sly and Arnold Schwarzenegger is just one of a few posted on July 6, 2010 at Contact Music in a piece called: “Sylvester Stallone – Gory Scene Cut From The Expendables”. The article goes on to say that a scene showing a man being stabbed in the neck was cut from the version that will show in the UK but will remain in the version shown in the United States. The US version has been given an “R” rating.

On July 5, 2010, Showbiz Spy posted a piece titled “Sylvester Stallone: ‘Modern Films Are Too Sophisticated”. In the article Sly says:
“Films today have become too sophisticated. Audiences now just want to see something that’s real. That’s why all the men in this (“The Expendables”) can do their own stunts. They are real people and they take some serious hits.”

Hey Craig, I have been a visitor for your wonderful site since 1996 and I’ve been a member for as long as I can remember. I am truly grateful and thankful for the wonderful work you do on your website and I will always be a “Stallonezone” regular 
I had the wonderful opportunity of attending “An Evening with Sylvester Stallone”. This was like one of the highlights of my life. Every time I get to see Sly in person, it just gives me this wonderful feeling knowing that I have idolized and grew up watching and listening to this person. So to see him in real, is just mind blowing.
The evening took place at a REGAL CINEMA in downtown Los Angeles. It was schedueled to start at 8 PM. I woke up that day and I had nothing on my mind except that I will be ATTENDING A CONVERSATION WITH SYLVESTER STALLONE. Basically I ignored everything else going on that day. I arrived to downtown Los Angeles around 2:30 pm. Again the show is not till 8. But I wanted to make sure that I am there way ahead of time because it was first come first served in regards to seating. I grabbed something to eat really quick and headed to the theatre right away.
I was there at 3pm sharp and YES I WAS THE FIRST TO BE THERE. Even the people who work at the theatre knew right away that I must be such a huge fan for coming in this early. One guy told me to go away and show up an hour before the show starts but I refused. So I spoke with another person who undersstood everything and he went and kindly took me to the second floor where the waiting took place. I was very thankful to him. So I went and waited in line while people were coming in and out for other shows and I was still there. One lady thought I actually worked there and was asking me about some stuff in regards to the theatre which I had no clue what she was talking about. I saw this wonderful STANDEE for the EXPENDABLES which of course I was staring at the whole time 
People started to show up around 6 pm and they really did not get us in to the theatre till 8:15pm. I was lucky to be sitting in the middle of the second row which was cool cuz Sly was right in front of me. The theatre was absoloutely full. They showed a beautiful montage of Sly and his movies. The audience started to cheer and applaud. Sly entered the theatre and everyone stood up applauding and cheering. He sat down and started talking.
He covered so many interesting topics. Sly talked abour writing and directing and how it is impossible today to have a unknown writer get his script made into a film and star in. He talked about how Rhinestone he considers the worst and how even his wife says “You really stink in this one.” He talked about how First Blood was 3 hours long and had so many cheesy lines and that he wanted to cut everything bad out of it.
They showed 2 Expendables clips. The boat scene and the second clip was his fight with Steve Austin which I thought was sooooooo cooooool. Also Sly talked about how he really works on his movies today as if they were the LAST ONE and they MAY BE THE LAST ONE. And that is his advice to his co-stars as well so they can give the best performance possible. Also mentioned a story on how strict the director of “VICTORY” was. He mentioned it in a good way. and included a funny story to it.
These are just a few of my memories of what was discussed and I am really proud that I was able to be part of this. Again I was not able to take picture with Sly which really makes me but just being there was beyond amazing I was able to take a picture with the person that interviewed Sly during this event.
