On December 31, 2008, EJ Claudio at BleacherReport.com listed his choices for The Top Five Boxing Movies of All Time. His number one choice was “Rocky” which beat out “Raging Bull,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “Cinderella Man” and every other boxing movie ever made. Here’s what he had to say:
Sylvester Stallone will always be remembered because of this film. It was a very good movie that connected with the audience. It is about Rocky Balboa, a not-so-smart boxer with limited skills who rose to fame by winning the hearts of many when he overcame the odds and put on a good fight against the champion, Appollo Creed.
SZoner Chris, from France, sent in a couple more photos of Sly from one of his trips there.
TMZ “reporters” caught up with Sly and asked him about “smoking pot with the Govinator.” You’ll love Sly’s answer which you can hear by clicking this link.
SZoner, Robert Rack is a super fan… as you can tell by these photos of just part of his collection!
Several critics over at the San Francisco Bay Guardian On-LIne site weighed in with their Favorites from 2008. Jesse Hawthorne selected “Rambo” as one of his and said this:
Rambo (Sylvester Stallone, USA/Germany) Sly captures American destruction and cynicism in half the time as PT Anderson’s meandering There Will Be Blood (2007).
Our POW this week is Sly having some down time enjoying a horseback ride. – Craig
