SLY IN JUNE ISSUE OF RACER

Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes sent in the following:

In the June 2001 issue of RACER there is a profile on racing movies by Adam Cooper entitled LAST ACTION HEROES. Some excerpts …

Sylvester Stallone and director Renny Harlin faced a long , hard struggle to realize their pet project that originally began life with an F1 theme.”

“…Of course, Stallone knows a little about sports movies. In 1976 he shot to stardom on Rocky , a project he conceived and fought to bring to life, and which earned the best picture Oscar. Will Driven be a knockout ?”

Former Indy 500 winner and formula 1 Champion Jacques Villeneuve makes a cameo appearance in Driven.

SLY AS SEEN BY RENATO CASARO

Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes sent in the following report:

The current ( July 2001 ) issue of AIRBRUSH Art + Action INTERNATIONAL has Sly as Gabe Walker from Cliffhanger on the cover.  There is a big question and answer with renowned movie poster artist Renato Casaro entitled, The Art of RENATO CASARO , PAINTED MOVIES.

The issue also includes a two page tear out poster of his work for RAMBO III. I’ve attached a smaller version of the art used for the poster.  The poster has the mag logo on the upper left and the words RENATO CASARO – PAINTED MOVIES across the bottom. It’s the only poster in the mag so it’s nice they chose Sly’s RAMBO III as the one.

The pic above appears with the caption: “A rare celebrity moment for MICHAEL as he poses with SYLVESTER STALLONE while making the film Driven.”

SZ EXCLUSIVE: “DRIVEN” PREMIERE PHOTOS

Chris Heathcoat is a longtime Sly Stallone fan and STALLONEZONE “regular.”  Chris was lucky enough to attend the Driven premiere and generous enough to share his pics with us. (Chris did the same for the Get Carter premiere.

Unfortunately, there was a delay in getting the photos to us… still Chris did capture a REALLY great shot of SLY and and this to say:
“Craig:
Not requesting that it is a must, but if there is anything printed about my feeling about the clearest shot of Sly, as I look at it in my 22 years of experience with him it is this…

…From Fans to Critics, many people look at this man and think of his movies repeating a few quotes from his characters that fascinate them. I however see a man who kept me away form temporary highs and gave me one thrill film a year from 1979 (Rocky II) to 2001 (Driven) and when I see this picture I see a man who proves dreams do come true. Thank you Sylvester Stallone!” – Christopher E. Heathcoat

And thank you, Chris!  – Craig Zablo (May 13, 2001)
