Rocky #1 Again

Here is Sly as drawn by the uber-talented, Mort Drucker for the August 2008 issue of Muscle & Fitness. This is page one of a two page spread that also features Arnold, Kurt Russell and Jean-Claude Van Damme. The article looks at the Top 10 Movie Training Montages and rates “Rocky” as #1. Who could argue with that? – Craig

SZoners Chance Meeting!

SZoner, Robert C. sent in the following: Hey Craig, I’m a long time Stallone Zone fan from Orlando, Fl. Last year I sent in the picture of Frank Stallone and I holding the signed Jakks Frank Stallone figure. I’ve been out in Hollywood, California for a couple days and who do I bump into while I’m out here. . .none other than the legendary Bill Pruitt! Bill was great! I bought a couple of portraits that have been featured in magazines, purchased by Sly himself and featured on Stallone Zone. Bill’s art is amazing, he truly has a gift.
How cool is this chance meeting between East Coast and West Coast
SZoner’s!?!

Very cool, I’d say. Thanks for letting us know. – Craig

Sly on M&F Cover

Craig,

I’ve been a long time reader of the Stallone Zone. I really appreciate all the effort you put into it, I read it every week. I just wanted to let you know that Rocky is in the latest issue of Muscle and Fitness. Here’s a brief excerpt on the article: Reel Muscle Rocky training scenes are the gold standard in cinematic muscle, but we’ve ranked nine sequences that offer stiff competition. There’s a picture of Rocky on the upper right of the magazine cover and more info on the Rocky training montages in the magazine. The website is muscleandfitness.com. Just wanted to pass it along. Keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
Jeff Farnham

Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit (L) jokes with U.S. actor Sylvester Stallone during a reception at the town hall in this February 3, 2004 file photo. Some on the left think Wowereit might be the best hope to give the SPD a lift in the way Barack Obama’s historic candidacy has helped boost the U.S. Democrats. Wowereit is the most popular elected leader in the SPD and the party’s most charismatic national figure.

Sly #1 Choice

Today at Ottawasun.com, Kevin Williamson lists his choices for the “11 or so plumb roles for the toughest, gristliest actors Hollywood can cough up” in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards.” Williamson’s number one choice: Sylvester Stallone. Here’s what he had to say about Sly:

“Sylvester Stallone: The man ingests human growth hormone like other people drink Tang. Bonus: He’s riding high on a mini-comeback thanks to Rocky Balboa and this year’s splatter-ific Rambo.”

Williamson’s other choices include: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Busey, Ernest Borgnine, Dennis Hopper, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Mickey Rourke, R. Lee Emery, Michael Madsen and John Travolta. You can read the full piece HERE. – Craig
