Sage Stallone has died.  At this point the cause is unclear.  Sage was 36

Sage made his movie debut acting with Sly in Rocky V.  Six years later they appeared together on screen in DaylightSage was an actor, director, producer, business man and musician.  Long time StalloneZone readers know that Sage would contact us from time to time and even shared a personal photo of his mom and dad taken in 1971

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fans.  Rest in Peace, Sage.

Sly is the Alpha Male

On July 5, 2012, the Belfast Telegraph posted a piece titled, “Sylvester Stallone is the Alpha Male.”  Here are a few tidbits:

  • “With any wolf pack, there’s an alpha male,” he (Expendables 2 director, Simon West) told Total Film Magazine. “No matter how tough the wolves are, there’s always an alpha male. And Sly is that alpha wolf.”
  • “I think we are all competitive in a lot of ways but there’s a hierarchy on the film based on experience,” he (Dolph Lundgren) explained. “Nobody challenged that, or had issues with that. Stallone is heavily involved with every aspect of the film.”
  • Sly’s the big chief, he knows what he wants,” Jason Statham
  • “There’s a lot of alphas here, no one wants to be outdone,” Sylvester confessed. “They’re on camera, bringing their A-game. What I can bring to the table is advice, because I wrote these characters. I can say, ‘Try it like this…'”

David Morrell and Rambo

One of the best things about creating and running the StalloneZone is the people I “meet” because of it.  This week I received an e-mail from one of my all-time favorite authors, David MorrellMr. Morrell is probably best known to fans here for creating Rambo in his novel First Blood.  [Mr. Morrell has written over 30 books in a wide range of genres and all are excellent.]

Mr. Morrell wants Stallone fans to know that his newly designed website has a Rambo page and that he recently finished up revisions of his novelizations of Rambo, First Blood Part II and Rambo III [both of which will contain lengthy introductions].

Check out Mr. Morrell’s site and if your interested in some of his other novels, pick any of them because you can not go wrong!

Sly vs DeNiro in a Grudge Match?

Way back in October 2010, we posted that Sly and Robert DeNiro may team up to co-star in Grudge Match a movie about two aging boxers who get back into the ring to settle a long-running feud.  Well, it looks like this week the movie moved a step closer to being made.
