Sly & Paula Abdul

On April 29, 2010, The Las Vegas Sun posted a nice article by Robin Leach about Sly and Paula Abdul in attendance at the celebration of Planet Hollywood into the Harrah’s “family”.  There are several nice photos of Sly with Paula and others.  Here are a couple of quotes from the piece:

… Sly said he’s thrilled with the results. “I’m doing the editing right now, and it’s going great. Everybody who sees just clips of it say it’s going to be the biggest action film of all time. Our bodies took a brutal beating. It was bloody, hand-to-hand combat, and you can see that onscreen…

…You couldn’t have dreamed up a better cast of action heroes, and I’m genuinely happy how we got them all to take part and even risk their lives and bodies for this project. There was incredible chemistry on the set between all of us, which was fantastic because it was a tough grind shooting all that action week after week for three solid months.”

“The Expendables” Comes in @ #1

On April 29, 2010, Sam Littman, over at The Daily Orange, posted his list of the 10 Blockbuster Films to see this Summer.  Coming in at #1 is The Expendables.  Here’s why:

1. “The Expendables”
Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Bruce Willis, Randy Couture, Mickey Rourke and Arnold Schwarzenegger — yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger — star in Stallone’s tale of mercenaries attempting to overthrow a South American dictator. It might just be the greatest summer movie ever conceived.

Charisma Carpenter: Sly & The Expendables

Charisma Carpenter was interviewed by Jarett Weiselman for The New York Post on April 20, 2010.  Part of the interview focused on her work in The Expendables.  Here’s a bit of what Ms. Carpenter had to say about Sly and The Expendables:

It’s a really fast-paced action movie and I think America is just going to love it. Sly’s kind of a genius. I know that he’s done a lot of work – but this is nothing like that. This isn’t Rambo, it isn’t Rocky. I seriously have so much respect for how many hats he was wearing. He wasn’t just acting and directing, but he was physically throwing himself into it. Every night after filming he’d go to the emergency room to basically have a cut on his hand sewn up, or his ankle broken or strained – he just goes and goes and goes. He really is kind of like Rambo!
