Bill Pruitt Checks In

SZoner, Bill Pruitt checked in with the cool photo above and this… Hi Craig, Today I got to meet the stunt coordinator for “Rambo First Blood II, Diamond Farnsworth. Ironically, I was working on a new “John Rambo” piece at Universal Citywalk when he happened to be up there. He couldn’t have been nicer and was very impressed that I knew who he was. (I’ve only seen him in Rambo II photos when Sly is doing bow and arrow target practice.) He said he taught Sly how to shoot the bow and arrow. Bill

Rambo II One of the Best

The June 22, 2007 issue of Entertainment Weekly lists their choices for the Top 25 Action Movies of All Time and they follow up on their on-line site with the top 50. Rambo, First Blood Part II came in at 35 and here’s what they had to say:35. RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II

Directed by George P. Cosmatos (1985)
Here’s where Rambo gets elevated from wounded Vietnam veteran trying to find a place in the world to entire-village-slaying, POW-rescuing American myth. Written by James Cameron (at the same time he was writing Aliens — busy boy!), this sequel corners like it’s on rails, hugging the plot turns and accelerating straight through to the speechifying finish.

The same issue of Entertainment Weekly has an interview with Bruce Willis where Sly’s connection to “Die Hard” is discussed:EW: I’ve read that you were the studio’s fifth choice to play John McClane…
BW: Oh, I think I was the 50th choice! They went to everybody.
EW: I’ve heard Richard Gere…
BW: I heard that.
EW: Arnold Schwarzenegger…
BW: Clint Eastwood…
EW: Stallone and Burt Reynolds…
BW: [Laughs] Burt Reynolds? All of those guys probably would’ve been great John McClanes.

New Bill Pruitt Rambo Painting!

New Bill Pruitt Rambo Painting!

Bill Pruitt recently sent in the scan to the left of a Rambo painting that he’d done a while back. When I asked him what else he’d been up to he replied:

“I have been keeping busy painting. I have several pieces that I am working on with a couple other Sly / Rocky pieces and several regular portrait commissions. Also, I will have two pieces of Marilyn Monroe in an upcoming coffee table book called Marilyn in Art tentatively due out in March.”

Bill’s an amazing artist. You can check out his work at his site. You’ll be glad that you did!

Rambo Ultimate Editions

On November 23rd the Rambo Ultimate Collection will be released as a three disc set.

First BloodRambo II, and Rambo III will also be re-released individually as Ultimate Editions.

While I’m not sure what new extras these editions will have, I do really like the new packaging and will keep you informed of additional info on the Ultimate series as it becomes available.

It’s great to see Sly‘s movies getting special treatment. This can only add to the positive buzz that’s building..

Thanks to Tarek for the tip!

Rambo Trilogy Action Figures

“Slmboyross” posted a link at the StalloneZone message board to some very cool photos of a trio of Rambo Action figures that are scheduled for release later this year. Mirage Toys which is an off-shoot of N2 Toys [which went out of business] is set to release a Rambo figure based on the character as he looked from each of the Rambo films. It’s a cool idea and the figures look like winners.
