Mike Medavoy (with Josh Young) wrote You’re Only As Good As Your Next One.  Here are a few quotes (like the one above) about Sly.  

“I read the script for another Chartoff-Winkler project, Rocky… Rocky was a page-turner.  Though it was a boxing picture and the hero lost the fight, the story had an authenticity that made it stand out.  Bob explained to me that the unknown actor who had written the script had to play the lead.” – page 44
