| Steen<\/b>\u00a0[from\u00a0Denmark<\/b>] sent us the scan to the left and the translation of the interview which follows:<\/p>\n \n Ekstra Bladet, Denmark, May 30, 2003<\/p>\n I HATED RAMBO.<\/p>\n – I\u2019ll never forget my first visit to\u00a0Copenhagen<\/b>\u00a0in the mid eighties. I was on honeymoon with\u00a0Brigitte<\/b>\u00a0and had been looking forward to experiencing her city. But my plane was vandalised by people who painted the words \u201cHo Chi Minh\u201d and \u201cFascist\u201d on it. And I received deaththreats.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n – All this apparently because of my\u00a0Rambo<\/b>\u00a0films. And at\u00a0Harvard University<\/b>, where I was going to receive an award, people poured animal blood on me.<\/p>\n – After a while it became too much. And I started to really hate the\u00a0Rambo<\/b>\u00a0character. People apparently thought I was him, says\u00a0Sylvester Enzio Stallone<\/b>, 56, who was married for two years to\u00a0Brigitte Nielsen<\/b>.<\/p>\n – The so-called serious filmmakers has never really taken him seriously. And he\u2019s often been laughed at. But\u00a0Stallone<\/b>\u00a0himself has been doing most of the laughing…All the way to the bank. He\u2019s so rich, it\u2019s almost disgusting.\u00a0Rambo<\/b>\u00a0really put him on the map and since then he\u2019s been asking all the way up to $20 million to do roles that didn\u2019t require him to speak much, but only to be a oneman army, who deals with bad guys his own way.<\/p>\n NO MORE RAMBO<\/b><\/p>\n Today\u00a0Sly\u00a0<\/b>has a very different view of the\u00a0Rambo<\/b>\u00a0films: – I don\u2019t regret a thing. The films were huge hits. And back then they meant a great deal to the real Vietnam vets. I\u2019m sure of that. Even if the films were only adventure films, I think they took away some of the pain, that those vets felt. Like an escape from reality. But for me, the\u00a0Rambo<\/b>\u00a0films are a thing of the past.<\/p>\n – What do you think about guns?<\/p>\n – “I can\u2019t say I like guns, but I do have guns at my house. You have got to be able to protect your home. Most\u00a0Americans<\/b>\u00a0own guns. But I don\u2019t want to be remembered as this war guerilla. I can offer so much more. Look at\u00a0\u201cCopland.\u201d<\/b>\u00a0I’m not just into violent movies. And I was only payed $60,000.”<\/p>\n – Have you had any serious personal experiences?<\/p>\n – “Yes, my daughter was born with a weak heart but she had an operation and is fine today. An experience like that changes you. Every thought imaginable goes through your head. Anything from religion, moral and succes etc. Suddenly you realise how out of control you really are. You can\u2019t do a thing in those situations. No matter how much money you have.”<\/p>\n – Are you a religious man?<\/p>\n – “I\u2019d like to keep that to myself.”<\/p>\n – You say you don\u2019t regret a thing, but are there films you are particularly proud of?<\/p>\n – “Yes, a film called\u00a0‘F.I.S.T.’\u00a0<\/b>and also\u00a0‘Copland.’<\/b>\u00a0In both cases I insisted on playing the leading roles. I\u2019m good at sticking to my own core, no mater what people say.<\/p>\n – What about a film like\u00a0\u201cCobra\u201d?<\/b><\/p>\n – “Well, that was a long time ago. It\u2019s an ok action film, but probably not the kind of thing I\u2019d be doing today. But there has to be room for harmless entertainment.”<\/p>\n About his own looks he says: – I\u2019m not good looking in the traditional sense. I have dogs eyes, my mouth is curved, my teeth aren\u2019t out of a toothpaste commercial and my voice sounds like a cheap mafia guy. But somehow it all adds up, so I guess I\u2019m doing ok.<\/p>\n – You are doing ok,\u00a0Sly<\/b>.
