Variety has reported<\/strong><\/a> that Mickey Rourke<\/strong> has signed on to co-star in Sly Stallone’s<\/strong> action flick, “The Expendables.”<\/strong> Rourke<\/strong> will join Sly, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren<\/strong> and Forrest Whitaker<\/strong> in what many are calling the can’t miss movie of the coming year.\u00a0 The National Post<\/strong> even published an article today with the title: “Early Prediction: Stallone’s The Expendables will be the greatest action movie of all time.”<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The Defamer.com also has an interesting [and positive] article on<\/strong> “The Expendables.”<\/strong><\/a> Here are a few quotes:<\/p>\n

The Second Coming of Mickey Rourke<\/strong> owes itself in part to Stallone’s faith in him<\/strong> a decade ago, when he recommended Rourke <\/strong>for a minor role in the remake of Get Carter<\/em>. <\/strong>Their brooding, mangle-faced chemistry was about the only thing that clicked while the film imploded around them. We wanted more, and we’ll get it.<\/p>\n

Unless you count Denzel Washington<\/strong> (we don’t) and his Where the Wild Things Are<\/em> <\/strong>voice work for Spike Jonze<\/strong>, Forest Whitaker<\/strong> hasn’t worked with a real director <\/strong>since Kevin Macdonald<\/strong> shepherded him to an Oscar<\/strong> in 2006<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You gotta love it.\u00a0 Rourke <\/strong>and Stallone<\/strong> together again on the big screen.\u00a0 Yeah, we did want more.\u00a0 And, yeah, we’re getting it.\u00a0 It’s also interesting to note that the author of the piece must consider Sly<\/strong> a “real director.” <\/strong><\/p>\n
