Stallone at the Linc was an Eagles surprise<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eagles<\/strong>‘ most effective stealth play Monday was the one that brought actor Sylvester Stallone<\/strong> to pump up the crowd for the Eagles<\/strong>‘ first regular-season game at Lincoln Financial Field<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eagles<\/strong> learned last month that ABC, which televises the Monday<\/strong> night games, was planning to air a video promo featuring Stallone<\/strong>. Team officials, sensing a Rocky<\/strong> moment, went through ABC<\/strong> to ask Stallone<\/strong> to also come to the city he immortalized on-screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He was about to go to Europe<\/strong>, but he was gung-ho about [doing] it,” team president Joe Banner<\/strong> said yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years, the team has been showing a Rocky<\/strong> video to end pregame festivities. As the presentation concluded Monday<\/strong>, the Linc<\/strong>‘s cameras turned to the north end zone, where Stallone<\/strong>, wearing a No. 22 Duce Staley<\/strong> jersey, jumped and waved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With wife Jennifer Flavin<\/strong> and brother Frank<\/strong>, Stallone stayed in owner Jeff Lurie<\/strong>‘s box until the game was nearly over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Birds<\/strong> put up the Stallones<\/strong>, traveling in a party of seven, at the Four Seasons Hotel<\/strong>. “We hid him away. We didn’t want to ruin the surprise,” Banner<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stallone<\/strong> brothers, however, were seen on 18th Street near Rittenhouse Square <\/strong>Monday afternoon with a small entourage. They stopped at Maron Chocolates\/Scoop de Ville<\/strong>. While picking up ice cream (and tipping $8 on a $12 order), Sly<\/strong> spotted T-shirts reading, “Life is short… Eat dessert first,” and bought four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Stallones<\/strong> also visited artist Perry Milou<\/strong>‘s studio\/gallery, where they talked about art and palette knives for 15 minutes. Stallone<\/strong> signed one of Milou’s pieces and gave him his home address. Milou<\/strong> plans to send him a painting.
