You posted on the StalloneZone<\/strong> about Sly<\/strong> meeting with Danny DeVito<\/strong> last Wednesday<\/strong> night.\u00a0 What happened afterward was a great experience for me.<\/div>\n
\nI was painting at Universal Citywalk <\/strong>in the spot I’m always at which is right across from the Bucca di Beppo<\/strong> restaurant [where Sly<\/strong> met with Danny Devito<\/strong>].\u00a0\u00a0 I had heard beforehand that Sly<\/strong> was gonna be there.\u00a0 I saw him go in and then when he was coming out about 2 hours later, I got his attention and asked him to come over to see my “Rambo”<\/strong> painting.\u00a0\u00a0 Sly<\/strong> had seen it in “Majestic Living”<\/strong> magazine, but had never seen the original.\u00a0\u00a0 Sly <\/strong>went under the ropes and walked over with me to see it up close on the easel.<\/div>\n
\nI have been working on it, doing changes in the bow and arrow scene with a couple of weeks work left.\u00a0\u00a0 Sly <\/strong>liked it and asked me the price. \u00a0 I told him and to my surprise, he said “you got a deal” and purchased it on the spot, giving me a down payment right there.<\/div>\n

It was funny, I asked him to find his name SLY<\/strong> in it and he looked for about 3 seconds and wanted me to show him.\u00a0\u00a0 He thought the background explosion should be bigger and higher\u00a0 [and I agree] so I will do that.\u00a0\u00a0 Sly <\/strong>said the explosion was symbolic of Rambo<\/strong> himself meaning he’s on the verge of exploding with all his pent up anger.\u00a0\u00a0 He was also referring to his own Rambo<\/strong> painting he did that had that expression\/feeling in it.\u00a0\u00a0 It was also funny, I pointed out the Burmese<\/strong> soldier that is closest in the painting was the likeness of the one Rambo<\/strong> decapitates on the Jeep.\u00a0\u00a0 He said he has that head at home and whenever he sees it it scares him.\u00a0\u00a0 Sly<\/strong> said he also has the wooden cross bracelet from Rambo<\/strong> when I pointed that out in the painting.\u00a0\u00a0 He referred to his weight in Rambo<\/strong> and said he’ll never be that heavy again.<\/div>\n

I told him I wanted to make sure the painting is completed before he leaves for “The Expendables” <\/strong>and surprisingly he said that won’t happen til July <\/strong>or August<\/strong>.\u00a0 I also showed him my “First Blood”<\/strong> (with mountain in background) original painting.\u00a0\u00a0 He was interested in it as well, but said he’ll think about that one.\u00a0\u00a0 Regarding the painting he just purchased, I will either contact Sly<\/strong> or he or his business partner Kevin<\/strong> will contact me soon.\u00a0 Also, thanks to Kevin<\/strong> for taking the photos.\u00a0\u00a0 By the way, I told Sly<\/strong> these photos are for the StalloneZone<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0 He liked that and said “great!”<\/div>\n

Although a crowd was gathering (there were fans, press people and security guards),\u00a0 Sly<\/strong> was kind to take his time with me and my art.\u00a0 In all, he was there about 10 minutes.\u00a0 When Sly<\/strong> purchased my first painting in 1987<\/strong> (when I was living in Missouri), that was a definite highlight and him choosing me to do the art for SLY<\/strong> magazine years later was a definite highlight. \u00a0 I have to say what happened Wednesday night was the best. Thanks again Sly<\/strong>.<\/div>\n
