On Tuesday, February 17, 2009<\/strong>, Harry<\/strong> at AICN<\/strong> posted an exclusive report<\/strong><\/a> that came to him from an extremely reliable source saying that Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong> would be making a cameo<\/strong> in “The Expendables.” <\/strong><\/p>\n

Harry<\/strong> said that Arnold<\/strong> would “shooting for one day” playing himself “<\/strong>and it seems that the Gov<\/strong> and Sly’s character Barney Ross<\/strong> have some history back when the Gov<\/strong> was shooting Conan the Barbarian<\/strong>!”\u00a0 Harry<\/strong> concluded the post with: “So there you have it.\u00a0 Sly<\/strong> and Arnie<\/strong> are both in this film.\u00a0 I’d take this to the bank, I have a really good (ahem) source (ahem) on this!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Websites all over the world lit up with news that Arnold<\/strong> would finally appear on film alongside Sly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then, less than 24 hours later, Harry was back<\/strong><\/a> saying:<\/p>\n

“Hey folks, Harry<\/strong> here… It seems there’s a possibility that my source was a bit too exuberant<\/strong> about the certainty of Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong> signing aboard.\u00a0 The whole thing is very dependent<\/strong> upon what happens with Arnold’s primary gig as the Governor of California<\/strong>… My source also tells me if this miracle does come to pass<\/strong> you’ll find Arnie<\/strong> not as the Governor<\/strong>, but as something a bit more gritty, scarred and brutalized.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, where does that leave us?\u00a0 We’ve gone from a sure thing<\/strong> [“take it to the bank”] to what sounds as highly unlikely<\/strong> [“if this miracle does come to pass”].\u00a0 Still, fans have been waiting for years for the pairing and “The Expendables”<\/strong> seems like the perfect project to make it happen.\u00a0 I especially like the sound of the change from Arnie <\/strong>playing himself to something more “gritty, scarred and brutalized.”<\/strong><\/p>\n
