In a profile [from\u00a0Business Week Online<\/b>\u00a0for\u00a0October 3, 2005<\/b>] of\u00a0David Pecker<\/b>,\u00a0chairman and CEO of American Media Inc<\/b>., which publishes of\u00a0The National Enquirer<\/b>,\u00a0The Star<\/b>,\u00a0Shape<\/b>, and\u00a0Sly<\/b>\u00a0[and other mags];\u00a0Pecker<\/b>\u00a0had this to say about working with celebs: “But ‘to tell you the truth, it hasn’t been fun” dealing with celebs, says\u00a0Pecker<\/b>. “Sly<\/b>‘s been unbelievably aggressive” in his demands for his magazine.”<\/p>\n

I find that quote absolutely refreshing. If you read\u00a0the profile<\/b>, you’ll see that magazines are in a battle to stay alive. Circulations are down. The fact that\u00a0Sly<\/b>\u00a0is taking a\u00a0REA<\/b>L interest in giving his magazine personality and HIS distinct voice shows a genuine passion. Whether of not the mag goes past the initial 3 planned and published issues won’t be because\u00a0Sly<\/b>\u00a0didn’t do his part.<\/p>\n
