In the October 13th issue of\u00a0Entertainment Weekly<\/b>, the picture to the left appears in an article by\u00a0Scott Brown<\/b>\u00a0titled, “Critcial Condition.” This article explores the recent trend of movie and music companies to not release their movies and albums to critics for review before the scheduled release date.<\/span><\/p>\n Sly<\/b>‘s name also turns up in\u00a0Jim Mullen<\/b>‘s “Hot Sheet” in the same issue.\u00a0“GET CARTER<\/b>:\u00a0Sylvester Stallone<\/b>\u00a0proves he is still willing to go out on a limb as an actor. Here he takes on a speaking role.”<\/span><\/p>\n +++++<\/p>\n \u00a0I think it was a mistake not to give critics an early preview of\u00a0“GET CARTER”<\/b>\u00a0to review. I believe this to be a mistake for three reasons:<\/span><\/p>\n \n1. GET CARTER IS A GOOD FILM.<\/b>\u00a0Not having the film available for early review by critics gives the impression that the studio has no faith in the film. This impression doesn’t just reach the critics, it also reaches the fans!<\/p>\n 2. POSITIVE REVIEWS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS AND PROMOTION.<\/b>\u00a0If the movie had been available for critics, sure, some of them would have knocked the film… but others would have praised it! Either way the critics would have been able to comment on the film because they had seen it. \n3. MORE BAD PRESS FOR GET CARTER.\u00a0<\/b>Some newspapers\/magazines\/reviewers will make mention on the fact that although\u00a0“GET CARTER”<\/b>\u00a0is at theaters now, the studio didn’t allow critics to review it… and then the speculation begins…<\/p>\n
