{"id":12620,"date":"2000-10-07T17:35:00","date_gmt":"2000-10-07T21:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=12620"},"modified":"2021-04-22T17:37:41","modified_gmt":"2021-04-22T21:37:41","slug":"get-carter-gets-no-respect-the-studio-dropped-the-ball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/2000\/10\/07\/get-carter-gets-no-respect-the-studio-dropped-the-ball\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Get Carter&#8221; Gets No Respect &#8212; The Studio Dropped the Ball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2000\/sept\/092300GCdone.jpg?resize=276%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"bodytext\">In the October 13th issue of\u00a0<b>Entertainment Weekly<\/b>, the picture to the left appears in an article by\u00a0<b>Scott Brown<\/b>\u00a0titled, &#8220;Critcial Condition.&#8221; This article explores the recent trend of movie and music companies to not release their movies and albums to critics for review before the scheduled release date.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"bodytext\"><b>Sly<\/b>&#8216;s name also turns up in\u00a0<b>Jim Mullen<\/b>&#8216;s &#8220;Hot Sheet&#8221; in the same issue.\u00a0<b>&#8220;GET CARTER<\/b>:\u00a0<b>Sylvester Stallone<\/b>\u00a0proves he is still willing to go out on a limb as an actor. Here he takes on a speaking role.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">+++++<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span class=\"bodytext\">\u00a0I think it was a mistake not to give critics an early preview of\u00a0<b>&#8220;GET CARTER&#8221;<\/b>\u00a0to review. I believe this to be a mistake for three reasons:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">\n<b>1. GET CARTER IS A GOOD FILM.<\/b>\u00a0Not having the film available for early review by critics gives the impression that the studio has no faith in the film. This impression doesn&#8217;t just reach the critics, it also reaches the fans!<\/p>\n<p><b>2. POSITIVE REVIEWS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE FOR ADVERTISEMENTS AND PROMOTION.<\/b>\u00a0If the movie had been available for critics, sure, some of them would have knocked the film&#8230; but others would have praised it! Either way the critics would have been able to comment on the film because they had seen it. Now they can only comment on &#8220;why&#8221; the studio didn&#8217;t make it available for preview which creates&#8230;<br \/>\n<b><br \/>\n3.
