*\u00a0SYLVESTER STALLONE\u00a0– His last $100 million hit was 1985’s\u00a0Rocky IV<\/em>, and the $7 million opening for\u00a0<\/strong>
Get Carter<\/em>\u00a0shows just how far the mighty have fallen. It’s been a rocky road for the 54-year-old’s future flick about an alcoholic FBI agent, now titled\u00a0Eye See You<\/em>, which has been on and off Universal’s release wagon for a year. The next best hope is\u00a0Renny Harlin’s race-car pic,\u00a0Driven<\/em>.<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

You all pretty much know how I feel about the results for\u00a0“Get Carter”\u00a0<\/strong>and the negative effect the marketing strategy had. Consider this, in the same issue of\u00a0EW<\/strong>,\u00a0“Pay It Forward”<\/strong>\u00a0gets 1 1\/2 pages and a “D” rating from the reviewer,\u00a0“Bedazzled”<\/strong>\u00a0gets 1\/3 of a page and a “C-” and\u00a0“The Yards”<\/strong>\u00a01\/2 page and a “C” rating. Each of these reviews also contained a picture from the movie reviewed.

The week that\u00a0“Get Carter”\u00a0<\/strong>premiered NO review or picture was offered because the marketing wizards decided to NOT offer\u00a0“GC”<\/strong>\u00a0for advance reviews! When the magazine finally was able to review\u00a0“GC”<\/strong>\u00a0it earned a “C” rating (higher than two of the three movies reviewed above and equal to the third!). But by this point the damage had been done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
