Joe<\/strong> line of action figures including a <strong>Rocky Balboa GI Joe<\/strong> that never saw production! <strong>Mark\u2019s first work<\/strong> as an <strong>inker<\/strong> in the comic book industry was for <strong>SQP<\/strong> on <strong>Judge Dredd<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>When I started collecting original sketches of <strong>Sly<\/strong>, <strong>Mark<\/strong> was one of the first artists that I approached.\u00a0 I was excited to get <a href=\"http:\/\/cjz.deviantart.com\/art\/Pennington-Mark-Rambo-110493282\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>this Rambo head sketch<\/strong><\/a> from him.\u00a0 Earlier this month I posted <a href=\"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=2503\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mark&#8217;s take on Sly as Rambo.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today we have <strong>Mark&#8217;s take<\/strong> on <strong>Sly<\/strong> as an older <strong>Jack Carter<\/strong>.\u00a0 Although we&#8217;ll never get a sequel to <em><strong>Get Carter<\/strong><\/em>, and it is not a perfect film, <em><strong>Get Carter<\/strong><\/em> remains one of my favorite<strong> Stallone <\/strong>movies.\u00a0 <strong>Sly <\/strong>was perfect as the &#8220;bad brother&#8221; &#8212; the man who knew that he&#8217;d taken the wrong path and saw a chance at redemption by finding his brother&#8217;s killer and keeping his niece and sister-in-law safe.\u00a0 So I thought it would be cool to get <strong>Mark<\/strong> to draw <strong>Sly<\/strong> as <strong>Jack Carter<\/strong>, but with some more years on him&#8230; sort of like <strong>Clint Eastwood&#8217;s<\/strong> performance in <em><strong>Unforgiven<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 I couldn&#8217;t be happier with the result!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Pennington graduated from the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in 1985.\u00a0 Upon graduation Mark became a toy designer at Hasbro.
