{"id":2645,"date":"2010-06-27T12:27:18","date_gmt":"2010-06-27T16:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=2645"},"modified":"2010-06-27T12:27:18","modified_gmt":"2010-06-27T16:27:18","slug":"la-times-covers-sly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/2010\/06\/27\/la-times-covers-sly\/","title":{"rendered":"LA Times Covers Sly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/june\/062710sly_lafilm.png?resize=475%2C670\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"670\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On <strong>June 24, 2010<\/strong>, <strong>Mark Olsen<\/strong> for the <strong>LA TImes Entertainment Section<\/strong> wrote an excellent piece about <strong>Sly&#8217;s event <\/strong>at the <strong>LA Film Festival<\/strong>.\u00a0 Here are some highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In conversation lasting a little over an hour that was engaging, freewheeling and candid, <strong>Stallone <\/strong>charmed the sold-out crowd&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8230;Stallone <\/strong>entered to the first\u00a0of three standing ovations he would receive through the night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8230;<\/strong>the night was squarely\u00a0on the\u00a0bigger arc of <strong>Stallone&#8217;s stardom<\/strong>, moving from the dual-edge of optimism and pessimism represented by<strong> Rocky <\/strong>and <strong>Rambo <\/strong>to other characters of his career.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A brief question-and-answer period with the audience simply underscored how meaningful a figure like<strong> Stallone <\/strong>&#8212; so easy for some cinephiles to ridicule or dismiss &#8212; is to his faithful fans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>At the end of the evening, <strong>LAFF Director Rebecca Yeldham <\/strong>presented <strong>Stallone <\/strong>with a small statuette honoring him as a special guest of the festival. &#8220;I don&#8217;t do this very often,&#8221; <strong>Stallone <\/strong>said, accepting the award. He then addressed the audience directly: &#8220;No man is an island. I&#8217;ve realized as long as I&#8217;m in touch with people like you then I can always be able to write stories about people like you.
