{"id":3091,"date":"2010-10-17T10:05:17","date_gmt":"2010-10-17T14:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=3091"},"modified":"2010-10-17T10:08:25","modified_gmt":"2010-10-17T14:08:25","slug":"6-stallone-movies-crack-top-100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/2010\/10\/17\/6-stallone-movies-crack-top-100\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Stallone Movies Crack Top 100"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <strong>October 13, 2010<\/strong>, <strong>Matt King<\/strong>, a senior analyst at <a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>BleacherReport.com<\/strong><\/a> posted his choices for the <strong>100 Greatest Sports Movies of All Time<\/strong>.\u00a0 Not surprisingly, <strong>Sly<\/strong> had six movies that made the grade.\u00a0 Here are <strong>Matt King&#8217;s choices<\/strong> and commentary.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710over_top.png?resize=475%2C270\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#79\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Over the Top<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can thank<strong> Sly Stallone<\/strong> for knowing why you turn your hat  around when you arm wrestle somebody. That&#8217;s valuable information there.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously,  though\u2014it&#8217;s a movie about arm wrestling. How awesome is that? It&#8217;s <strong> Stallone<\/strong> right around the time he discovered steroids, facing off  against some guy with more neck rolls than a pug. As a man, you just  have to love this. It&#8217;s man law.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710victory.png?resize=475%2C357\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"357\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#62 <em>Victory<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-description\">\n<p>What&#8217;s this? It&#8217;s a sports movie and we&#8217;re playing the<strong> Germans<\/strong> during <strong>WWII<\/strong>? Yes, please.<\/p>\n<p>You  could make a water polo movie where a team faces off against the <strong> Germans <\/strong>during <strong>WWII<\/strong> and I would be all in. It&#8217;s too easy. The villain is  built in. You don&#8217;t need to build them up or give them any depth. It&#8217;s  cool. We hate them. Let&#8217;s move along.<\/p>\n<p>I also have a soft spot for  sports movies ending a ridiculous note. <strong>Sly Stallone<\/strong> catching a penalty  kick pretty much fits that bill.<\/div>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710rocky4.png?resize=475%2C297\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#46 <em>Rocky IV<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-description\">\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to rank the<strong> Rocky <\/strong>movies. Usually when a sports movie  comes out with a sequel, it sucks. But <strong>Rocky<\/strong> managed to make not one,  but three sequels that are extremely watchable.<\/p>\n<p>Somebody has to  bring up the rear and, while I do have a special place in my heart for<strong> Ivan Drago<\/strong> and <em><strong>Rocky IV<\/strong><\/em>, it can&#8217;t compete with the others.<\/p>\n<p>It does  however give us some amazing lines (I must break you) and a training  montage that set the gold standard for cheesy goodness. I&#8217;ll always be  thankful to <strong>Rocky<\/strong> and the fourth installment for singlehandedly winning  the Cold War.<\/div>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710rocky2.png?resize=475%2C318\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"318\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#32 <em>Rocky II<\/em><\/strong> [and if you take a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/488755-the-100-greatest-sports-movies-of-all-time#page\/70\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>their original post<\/strong><\/a>, notice where they got the <em><strong>Rocky II <\/strong><\/em>photo]<\/p>\n<p>At the end of <strong>Rocky, Apollo<\/strong> tells him that there won&#8217;t be a rematch and <strong>Rocky<\/strong> says that he doesn&#8217;t want one.<\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-description\">\n<p>Good ending, but that&#8217;s hard for us sports fans to accept. We need some kind of resolution.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the same reason most <strong>Americans <\/strong>hate soccer for three out of every four years: we hate ties.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully,  <em><strong>Rocky II <\/strong><\/em>gave us that rematch and managed to do so without seeming like  a horrible cash grab and was a really solid movie.<\/div>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710rocky3.png?resize=475%2C314\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#24 <em>Rocky III<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-description\">\n<p><strong><em>Rocky III<\/em><\/strong> is probably the most entertaining<em><strong> Rocky<\/strong><\/em> movie. It&#8217;s got over-the-top characters like <strong>Hulk Hogan <\/strong>and <strong>Clubber  Lang<\/strong>, <strong>Mickey<\/strong> dying, and a great final fight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. T <\/strong>really did kick  ass as <strong>Clubber<\/strong>. With the first two <em><strong>Rockys<\/strong><\/em>, you always liked<strong> Apollo<\/strong> at  least a little bit. He was mouthy, but it came with charm.<strong> Clubber Lang<\/strong> was just big, scary, and mean.<\/div>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/101710rocky.png?resize=475%2C316\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"316\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>#6 <em>Rocky<\/em><\/strong> [and don&#8217;t ask me why the photo for <em><strong>Rocky<\/strong><\/em> is from <em><strong>Rocky Balboa<\/strong><\/em>]<\/p>\n<div class=\"slide-description\">\n<p>The ultimate underdog story.<\/p>\n<p>The first <em><strong>Rocky<\/strong><\/em> was the  ultimate everyman. He&#8217;s just an unassuming, humble guy from <strong>Philly<\/strong> who  ends up getting a shot at the champ through a series of events and  making the most of it.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, <strong>Rocky<\/strong> turns into this super  fighter in later movies, but in this one he&#8217;s just your average guy with  a bigger than average heart. Nothing special.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stallone<\/strong> will never be considered a great actor, but he&#8217;s terrific in the movie. He nails the &#8220;aw shucks&#8221; attitude.<\/p>\n<p>And who could forget <strong>Mickey<\/strong>.
