{"id":3165,"date":"2010-11-05T19:23:44","date_gmt":"2010-11-05T23:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=3165"},"modified":"2010-11-05T19:23:44","modified_gmt":"2010-11-05T23:23:44","slug":"sly-the-original-choice-for-part-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/2010\/11\/05\/sly-the-original-choice-for-part-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Sly the Original Choice For&#8230; Part II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2010\/oct\/103110sly_as.png?resize=475%2C186\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"186\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last week <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moviehole.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Moviehole<\/strong><\/a> posted the bottom half of their <strong>Top 50 Original Casting Choices<\/strong>.\u00a0 Of course <a href=\"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=3119\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Sly made that list several times<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 This week <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moviehole.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Moviehole<\/strong><\/a> is back with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moviehole.net\/201033113-50-original-casting-choices-part-2\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>their Top 25<\/strong><\/a> and <strong>Sly<\/strong> again makes the cut&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>15. \u201cFace\/Off\u201d (1996) \u2013 Sylvester Stallone vs. Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/strong>\n<p>The big studios always tried to pair up action stars Stallone and  Schwarzenegger. When the script for \u201cFace\/Off\u201d landed in his pigeonhole,  Captain Hollywood read it with an eye to ultimately casting the two  biggest names in action in the film. By the time director John Woo was  hired to helm the film a couple of years later, Stallone and  Schwarzenegger\u2019s appeal had started to wane and, amusingly enough, John  Travolta and Nicolas Cage\u2019s stars were on the rise again \u2013 thus, the  latter twosome got the job.<\/li>\n<li><strong>10. \u201cMasters of the Universe\u201d (1987) \u2013 Sylvester Stallone as \u2018He-Man\u2019<\/strong>Either because there was no money in it, or Sly didn\u2019t like the idea  of dying his hair blonde, he passed on the offer to play the burly  cartoon character on the big screen. Sly suggested Dolph Lundgren, whom  he had worked with on \u201cRocky IV\u201d, would be a much better fit. He was  right\u2026 not that it did much for Lundgren\u2019s career.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5. \u201cThe Expendables\u201d (2010) \u2013 Wesley Snipes as \u2018Hale Caesar\u2019<\/strong>\n<p>Sylvester Stallone had wanted his \u201cDemolition Man\u201d co-star to play  the role Terry Crews ended up playing in the hit actioner. Snipes was  interested, but the film was due to lens in Brazil, and the actor\u2019s tax  problems meant that he couldn\u2019t leave the USA. Forest Whitaker  ultimately took on the role \u2013 even rewriting it \u2013 but was forced to  leave a few days before production due to a scheduling conflict.
