{"id":3252,"date":"2010-12-19T13:24:41","date_gmt":"2010-12-19T17:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/?p=3252"},"modified":"2010-12-19T13:25:26","modified_gmt":"2010-12-19T17:25:26","slug":"3252","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stallonezone.com\/wordpress\/2010\/12\/19\/3252\/","title":{"rendered":"Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky Balboa: Best of the Best"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><\/strong><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/stallonezone.com\/imgs\/news\/2009\/oct\/102409rocky_7.jpg?resize=475%2C226\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"226\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On December 17, 2010, Newsday posted a piece titled Actors, Fighters Weigh-in on Boxing Flicks.\u00a0 As you can imagine the Rocky movies were selected as top choices several times.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what was said:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Frank Vincent<\/strong>, <em>played Salvy, opposite Robert\u00a0De  Niro in\u00a0&#8220;Raging Bull.&#8221; \u00a0He&#8217;s appeared in numerous other films, including  &#8220;Goodfellas&#8221; and &#8220;Casino.&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1.<\/strong> Although it was a fantasy, \u00a0I have to go with &#8220;Rocky 1&#8221;, for the\u00a0inspirational message.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eddie Mustafa Muhammad,<\/strong> <em>former WBA light heavyweight champion, played\u00a0Billy Fox opposite Robert De Niro in\u00a0&#8220;Raging Bull.&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n3.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky.&#8221; &#8220;The entire Rocky series was great for  boxing.\u00a0Even if it wasn&#8217;t\u00a0real, it was an opportunity for Sly to come in  and make those movies. It gave boxing a boost.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>A.J. Benza<\/strong>, <em>played L.C.\u00a0opposite Sylvester Stallone\u00a0in &#8220;Rocky Balboa.&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1.<\/strong> &#8220;Although &#8220;Raging Bull&#8221; is a better film, with incredible acting and  all the sacrifices Robert De Niro made to literally become Jake LaMotta,  and having the great Martin Scorsese at the helm, I still have to say  the greatest\u00a0boxing movie of all-time is &#8220;Rocky.&#8221; Here we are 34 years  later and I still drop the remote and stop whatever I&#8217;m doing whenever  it&#8217;s on TV. That song is in everybody&#8217;s heart. That fight is a fight we  will all face one day in our\u00a0lives. Sylvester Stallone did it. Game  over. Who doesn&#8217;t get the chills when they hear the trumpets?&#8221;<br \/>\n<strong>3.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky Balboa.&#8221; Mainly because I&#8217;m in it. But I  remember being on the set, on the last day, and watching Stallone run  the steps for the last time. And when he was done and it was a wrap, no  one wanted to leave. Stallone\u00a0just sat on the steps. And I remember  telling him, &#8220;You been making us cry for over 30 years. Who does that  outside\u00a0of our own families?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jeff Waxman<\/strong>, <em>co-producer, &#8220;The Fighter&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1<\/strong>. &#8220;Rocky&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n2<\/strong>. &#8220;Rocky II&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;I  loved all those movies,&#8221; said Waxman. &#8220;I loved them not just for the  boxing, but for the story. With Riocky, it was about going the distance,  in this movie (&#8220;The Fighter&#8221;), Micky\u00a0Ward had to go the distance, he  had to win and he did.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Steve Farhood<\/strong>, <em>boxing analyst for Showtime:<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky.&#8221; &#8220;The right movie at the right time. My friend and I saw it in  the dead of winter, and we were so pumped up, we ran home two miles  through the streets of New York City. By the way, not one of the 347  sequels compares.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lou\u00a0DiBella<\/strong>, <em>boxing promoter, played himself in &#8220;Rocky Balboa&#8221; and is a producer on &#8220;The Fighter.&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky.&#8221;\u00a0&#8220;I think the character of Rocky Balboa\u00a0is the greatest  personafication of the underdog in movie history and it gets to the  essence of why people love boixng. I\u00a0think Rocky\u00a0Balboa is the\u00a0most  iconic figure every created about boxing.&#8221;<strong><br \/>\n2.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky II.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mark Breland<\/strong>, <em>Olympic gold medalist and WBA welterweight champion. Has appeared in &#8220;The Lords of Discipline,&#8221; and\u00a0 &#8220;Summer of Sam.&#8221;<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>2.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jose Rivera<\/strong>, <em>former two-time world champion who played Mark Wahlberg&#8217;s sparring partner in &#8220;The Fighter.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>1.<\/strong> &#8220;Rocky.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Junior Jones<\/strong>, <em>former world bantamweight and junior featherweight champion:<\/em><strong><br \/>\n1.<\/strong> &#8220;All of the &#8220;Rocky,&#8221; movies. I liked the training scenes and the music,  too.
