The news broke this week that Sly <\/strong>had been paying his half-sister,\u00a0Toni-Ann Filiti,<\/strong>\u00a0 through a trust fund set up to cover living and medical expenses.\u00a0 The trust was set up years ago after Ms. Filiti<\/strong>\u00a0asserted claims for personal injury caused by Sly<\/strong>.\u00a0 Although Sly \u2018vigorously denied and continues to deny and dispute all claims of wrongdoing<\/span>,\u2019<\/strong> he was advised by his attorneys that it would be better to pay her than risk scandal. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite Miss Filiti\u2019s<\/strong> allegations, she remained on good terms with Sly<\/strong>.\u00a0 She would sometimes come to his movie premieres and Sly<\/strong> even helped her son Edd<\/strong> get a role in Cop Land<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 There are reports that Miss Filiti<\/strong> had personal problems through the course of her life.\u00a0 She died last year from lung cancer.<\/span><\/p>\n
