I have all kinds of chest injuries; I tore my vein duringRocky II<\/em>\u00a0and had 60 stitches. If you\u2019ve seen\u00a0Rocky Balboa<\/em>, you\u2019ll know how bad they look. It got worse and worse, and people were saying, \u201cUrgh, has he got varicose veins?\u201d So I thought, f*ck it, and covered them with a tattoo of my wife. Then the tattoo started to grow and it went to a skull and before I knew it, I was a mural.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\nThe film is based on a graphic novel \u2013 were you a fan?<\/strong>\u00a0 Yeah, but in the novel my character was a little more sadistic and crazy, with no redeeming qualities. So I changed that and I cut the goatee off because he looked exactly like Barney from\u00a0The Expendables<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\nDo you think your acting skills are underappreciated?<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I didn\u2019t work my way through certain acting establishments or Bafta or, what do you call it? I never really learned how to act; it was on-the-job training.<\/p><\/blockquote>\nGiven that your films have taken $1.6bn at the box office, does it annoy you that you don\u2019t get the respect you deserve from Hollywood?\u00a0 <\/strong>It did, it did. But there\u2019s a different kind of recognition now \u2013 from the people. There\u2019s an eclectic, sophisticated sort of recognition.
