In the right corner, fading action hero\u00a0SYLVESTER STALLONE<\/b>! In the left corner, intrigued but apparently wary studio\u00a0MGM<\/b>! The subject of their current scuffle?\u00a0“Rocky VI.”<\/b>\u00a0You read right: Six!<\/p>\n

Stallone<\/b>\u00a0tells\u00a0EW<\/b>\u00a0he’s penned yet another script about everyone’s marble-mouthed meat pulverizer. An exec at\u00a0MGM<\/b>\u00a0– which owns the 24-year-old franchise – says that the studio is “excited” to see the pages (despite\u00a0Rocky V<\/b>‘s relatively weak $41 million box office). But the star refuses to show\u00a0MGM<\/b>\u00a0anything until it boosts its proposed $10 million budget. “We need at least $20 or $22 million,” says\u00a0Stallone<\/b>. “I mean, you gotta pay (Rocky’s wife)\u00a0TALIA SHIRE<\/b>\u00a0something.<\/span><\/p>\n

So what’s in those closely guarded pages? The movie –<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

– which\u00a0STALLONE<\/b>\u00a0imagines as a grittier,\u00a0“Raging Bull”<\/b>-type epic – finds the boxer, aging and broke, reentering the ring to raise money for a Christian youth association.”I’ve tried to emulate a few things in reality, such as the\u00a0GEORGE FOREMAN<\/b>\u00a0story,” says\u00a0STALLONE<\/b>, noting, that like the real-life boxer who retired at 48 after a conteroversial ’97 defeat,\u00a0Rocky<\/b>\u00a0is “probably going to lose.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The 53-year-old actor wants to shoot VI pronto. “It’s already been ten years since “Rocky V,” says STALLONE. “What are you going to do, wait 20 years? It’s now or never.” Oh, but think of the dialogue: “Yo, I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”<\/p>\n

\nLet’s hope that\u00a0SLY<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0MGM<\/b>\u00a0reach an agreement and the movie is made.\u00a0Rocky<\/b>\u00a0needs a better send-off than\u00a0“V”<\/b>\u00a0provided.<\/p>\n
