That’s what\u00a0Sylvester Stallone<\/b>did when\u00a0CBS<\/b>\u00a0didn’t pick up\u00a0Lefty<\/b>, the television drama he exec-produced starring\u00a0Titanic<\/b>‘s\u00a0Danny Nucci<\/b>\u00a0as a tough-talking priest.\u00a0Stallone<\/b>\u00a0believes the Catholic Church’s current troubles led the Eye to pass on the pilot. “Danny<\/b>\u00a0was fantastic,” says\u00a0Stallone<\/b>. “And to come out with a show about priests at this particular time… I think people are waiting for something to help them exhale.”\u00a0Stallone<\/b>‘s the one who needs to take a breather, says one source close close to the negotiations. It wasn’t the preist-pedophilia scandal but\u00a0Lefty<\/b>‘s soft,\u00a0Touched by an Angel<\/b>sensibility that prompted\u00a0CBS<\/b>\u00a0to reject it in favor of the sharper fare like\u00a0Without a Trace<\/b>, a missing persons drama with\u00a0Anthony LaPaglia<\/b>, and the cop-themed\u00a0RHD\/LA<\/b>, which stars\u00a0Tom Sizemore<\/b>\u00a0and is exec-produced by\u00a0Heat<\/b>‘s\u00a0Michael Mann<\/b>. Says the source, “The network wants to go in a certain direction, with younger-skewing, harder-edged shows with an urban feel.”<\/p>\n
