Sly and Benny Mardones

It’s been reported that Sylvester Stallone has asked Benny Mardones and his songwriting partner [Grammy Award-winning producer], Michael Lloyd, to work on new songs for a planned Broadway production of the original “Rocky” and the next in line of the movie anthology the Philadelphia boxer made famous, “Rocky VI.”

Mardones is best known for his song “Into the Night,” which reached Billboard‘s pop Top 20 twice, in 1980 and 1989. [A song I really liked!] Lloyd is best known for his producing credits on the soundtrack for “Dirty Dancing,” ” ‘You Light Up My Life” with Debbie Boone and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” for Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley from “An Officer and a Gentleman.”
