Sly in his “Nighthawks” days sent in by Loghman Sheyda.
Sly Stallone’s next starring role will be as the lead of a new monthly magazine geared towards men. The magazine called Sly, will have a focus on health, fitness and lifestyle with a target audience of men in the 35+ age group. Sly will premiere in January.
American Media will publish Sly. An American Media spokesman was quoted as saying, “We know that Sylvester will be actively involved in the editorial process every month.” It had not yet been decided if Sly would appear on the cover of every issue.
Sly magazine aligns nicely with Stallone’s line of health and fitness products under the company name of Instone.

Sly and Rocky – back to back.
Dennis O’Connell’s Entertainment Column for October 15, 2004 at AskMen.com lists the Top Ten All Time Best Movie Characters. And you just know that Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky made the list. Coming in at #9, here is what was said:9. Rocky Rocky Balboa has delivered some cheesy speeches in his lifetime (anyone remember Rocky IV, where Balboa single-handedly melted the Cold War?). Regardless, no one saw Rocky for its intricate plots or Oscar worthy acting. They did, however, watch the Rocky series for the macho and epic battles between man and his enemy. Rocky made you want to be a boxer, executed flawlessly by all-around class act, Sylvester Stallone. – Craig |
On Monday, October 11, 2004, Moviehole.com posted that talks are underway for Robert Rodriguez reteam with his “Spy Kids 3D : Game-Over” co-star Sylvester Stallone on a proposed fourth “Rambo” film.
Rodriguez is apparently interested in directing and perhaps even writing “Rambo 4.” According to the source Sly also serve as producer and wants the film to be less of “Rambo 3” and more “First Blood” this time around.

Sly and Jenn from the collection of Maurice Totry
SLY STALLONE, MICKEY ROURKE, RACHEL LEIGH COOK, RHONA MITRA and director STEPHEN KAY appeared together at a press conference prior to the premiere of “Get Carter” on October 4, 2000 in Los Angeles. “Get Carter” opens wide on October 6th in the United States.

On November 23rd the Rambo Ultimate Collection will be released as a three disc set.
First Blood, Rambo II, and Rambo III will also be re-released individually as Ultimate Editions.
While I’m not sure what new extras these editions will have, I do really like the new packaging and will keep you informed of additional info on the Ultimate series as it becomes available.
It’s great to see Sly‘s movies getting special treatment. This can only add to the positive buzz that’s building..
Thanks to Tarek for the tip!

Next Celebrity Mag Contender Could Prove A Real Knockout
Mediapost.com reported on October 1st that Sylvester Stallone and American Media are developing a new men’s fitness magazine which would feature Sly on the cover each month.
Here’s what the piece says:
He beat the odds to become a fictional heavyweight champion of the world, and won an Oscar in the process. Now sources tell Mag Rack that actor Sylvester Stallone is the next big celebrity magazine contender. Following in the footsteps of Rosie, Oprah, and Trump, American Media is developing Sly, a new health and fitness monthly aimed at older men, which would feature Stallone on the cover of each issue.
It’s a logical line extension for American Media, which already publishes Men’s Fitness, and already has an editorial talent pool in place to develop the personality-oriented workout book.
Assuming Stallone’s magazine actually makes it to the racks, he would immediately elevate his status as one of the more versatile figures in the media universe. The actor, best known for his roles as “Rocky” and “Rambo,” is also on the bill to host the new NBC boxing reality series “The Contender.”
Wouldn’t this be cool? – Craig
