ROCKY II STATUE UP FOR AUCTION ON EBAY

ROCKY BALBOA VS APOLLO CREED

While surfing the net I discovered the above statue up for auction at e-Bay.com. Because of the rarity of the piece, I thought it would be of interest to SYLVESTER STALLONE fans. Although no images appear with the auction listing, the owner of the statute quickly responded to my e-mail request for pictures and gave his permission for me to publish them on the SZ. Listed below is the description of the piece as it appears on e-Bay as well as detailed photos of the state. If you are interested in bidding on the piece, please click |HERE|.

This is a fantastic collectible and a must for the ROCKY and Sylvester Stallone fan.

This statue was commissioned and issued in a very limited number by United Artists Corporation in 1979 for the film ROCKY II starring Sylvester Stallone and Carl Weathers.

It was created by renowned sculptor Giovanni Schoeman.

It depicts Rocky Balboa “The Italian Stallion” and Apollo Creed fighting it out in the ring with incredible detail, power and grace.

Stallone’s and Weather’s signature appear on the bottom.

The artist’s signature appears on the left side; the United Artists Corporation logo appears on the right side.

It is plaster cast with bronze enamel paint.

The appearance is gorgeous.

I have owned and treasured this item for 21 years!

It is in excellent condition with only a small number of extremely tiny paint chips on the bottom and in no way detracts from the beauty of this piece.

Measures 10.5″ long x 6.25″ wide x 12″ tall.

This is an extremely rare item and I know you will love it as much as I have.

I will pack it with special care and ship anywhere worldwide; buyer pays actual shipping cost depending upon your location.

PLEASE forgive me but I cannot figure out how to add pictures to my eBay ad.

So PLEASE email me at LMSPR@aol.com.

I will email you several pictures immediately.

Thank you for bidding and good luck!

Two Movieline Tidbits

In the Spotted column: SYLVESTER STALLONE and STEPHEN BALDWIN having dinner at separate tables at Bambu on Meridian Ave. in Miami Beach.

In the Hollywood Ink column: … Our favorite what-are-they-thinking? casting of the month is news that the suave, sophisticated bank robber in Seven Arts International’s “Morton Orwell” will be played by SYLVESTER STALLONE. Jeez, this outdoes BRUCE WILLIS being cast as that sophisticated thief in “Hudson Hawk“…

Yo! Stella!

SYLVESTER STALLONE might want to brush up on his “Yo, Juliet!” speech. The buzz is that the under-employed action hero is hot to hit the stage and do some serious theater, particularly in England. Theater performances have boosted or revivied the careers of such stars as NICOLE KIDMAN (“The Blue Room”) and KATHLEEN TURNER, who has been getting raves in London for baring it all in “The Graduate.” STALLONE‘s career could certainly use a boost. “I have not made a dime in two years, ” the one-time hot star complained to Stiffed author SUSAN FALUDI last year. “I see everyone else working and I’m not doing (bleep). I’m in total limbo.”

A spokesman for STALLONE denies that he wants to do theater, but London’s Express quoted a “theatrical agent” as saying, “It’s on the QT that we’ve been asked to find out if there are any suitable projects floating around for him.”

While some theater sources scoffed at the idea of the star of “Rambo” and “Rocky” doing theater, others were less skeptical. “He’d make a great Stanley Kowalski,” says a source, refering to the leas in “A Streetcar Made Desire.”

The Rocky Horror Golf Show

The June 2000 issue of Maximum Golf features an interesting article written by RON DEL BARRIO and ANDY MEISLER (which is accompanied by three caricatures of SLY drawn by DREW FRIEDMAN).

Mr. Barrio is a golf pro who describes what it was like to be SLY‘S personal golf instructor when SLY was first learning the game. Not only is the article humorous but also informative in that it gives us a glimpse into Sly‘s off-screen persona!

The article is interesting, informative and easily worth the cost of the magazine.

THREE STALLONE ITEMS

THREE STALLONE ITEMS

On May 28th, JASON93 posted the web address for a reviewer who caught a sneak preview of “Detox” way back in November of last year. The reviewer ultimately rated the film 3 out of ten but did like some aspects of the film. To view the review click |HERE|

On May 30th, COMING ATTRACTIONS ran a follow-up item from MR. ANONYMOUS who has nothing but praise for “Get Carter.” Mr. Anonymous says that he caught an advance screening and “boy, did the movie deliver. It had top notch performances from the entire cast… How was Sly you ask? I have to say that Stallone was EXCELLENT as Jack Carter. “Get Carter” has got to be Stallone’s best movie in years.” MA goes on to praise the director, cinematographer and Stallone some more!

On June 1st, EDWIN5 posted three web addresses which contained pictures of SLY. One of the pictures was a cool close-up shot of SLY getting ready to lower the visor of his helmet. On the same day ANDREW posted on the board that he had forwarded the photo to the DARK HORIZONS and AIN’T IT COOL websites. On June 2nd the photo appeared at DARK HORIZONS giving credit to the STALLONE ZONE. Thanks to both EDWIN5 and ANDREW (as well as GARTH!)
