Awesome news!

Earlier this week I received these photos attached to this e-mail:
Craig,
Longtime SZoner, Rob Hoskins, here from Salyersville, Kentucky. Just wanted to show you these latest gems. My Dad brought me an old copy of Rona Barrett’s HOLLYWOOD Magazine from December 1977 he found at an antique place. I found these sections on the “new star” of ROCKY inside.
Peace,
Rob Hoskins

I had the shirt and poster below. One of my sisters secretly traded the poster to one of her friends for a shirt. She didn’t tell me until years later.
If you’d like to see a larger version of the ad you can here.

Thanks to Rob for sharing!

SZoner, Christopher Heathcoat aka SlyGuy recently attended a Frank Stallone concert. From all reports Frank has been killing it since he returned to live performing and Chris’ report confirms it!

Going in, from previous feedback from yourself and other SZoners, as well as my own past observations of Frank’s career, we were very well aware that he was a multi-talented singer, actor and composer. What I didn’t know (and now, enjoyably am aware of) is just how excitedly versatile Frank Stallone actually is. Frank’s own description of it was Musical Schizophrenic, including his fave, jazz.

The evening was great. Frank performed jazz covers with respectful nod’s to the greats, little stand up historical recollections of his life with his superstar brother, and my personal fave, his pure, point on covers of Hendrix’s FOXY LADY and his deep devotional to country music in Wake Up Call, and though I’m not a huge fan of country music, the lyrics and delivery of that tune, many can relate to.

On July 6, 2013, Sly celebrated his 67th birthday.
Frank tweeted the photo above of Sly’s birthday cake. Did you catch that Jennifer has been substituted for Talia Shire in the center? How about the caption, “Happy 1,000th Birthday”?
Happy Birthday, Sly! – Craig

Frank also tweeted this photo of Sly, Frank and Bruce Willis taken on Sly’s b-day!

On June 2, 2013, The Beverly Hills Courier posted Lou Ferrigno, Bo Derek, Frank Stallone Among Names Set For Star-Studded Beverly Hills Polo Club Charity Match.
Kudos to Frank and the other celebs helping kids! – Craig

According to Molly Eichel’s Frank Rizzo to Hit the Big Screen? article posted at Philly.com on April 11, 2013, there’s talk about the potential for Sly and Frank to co-star in a film about former Philly mayor Frank Rizzo.
Keep in mind this is just talk/speculation, but it would be nice to see Sly and Frank together again on the big screen. (You know, Frank could be Expendable.) – Craig

Frank Stallone was on fire at Vitello’s on New Year’s Eve. What did you miss? Check this out for a taste…
If you’d like to see Frank live, you can if you can get to Vibrato on January 15th!

If any SZoners attend, we’d love to see photos and a report. You know it will be a great way to send out the old year and welcome in the new! – Craig

Frank Stallone is featured on the cover and a nice interview in the current issue of Best You Ever which you can read online. Here are a few tidbits…
I was playing music long before Sly was ever an actor. He was my roadie at one time. When Rocky started shooting, he needed a band that would work cheap to be in one of the scenes. My band, Valentine, was playing at some local clubs and we were the only singers Sly knew. We were making about $140 total, but the movie was going to pay us $140 each!
A lot of people have just given up on me over the years. But I’ve had to keep believing in my own talent.
I take care of myself, I stay in shape and I’d rather have people be impressed at how old I am as opposed to them thinking I look old for my age.
I am who I am. I’m kind of a loner, I like to play my guitar, bury myself in a good book, hang out at joints with my boys and I say what I want. I don’t like to hide behind “Hollywood.” I like to interact with people on Facebook and Twitter and I forget sometimes that I’m somewhat of a public figure.

On September 7, 2012, Fox News.com posted an interview with Frank who spoke about the recent deaths of Sage and Toni-Ann, how the Stallone family has pulled together and the healing power of music. – Craig
