“Rocky” Movie Series Posters by Tony Stella!

Check out this very cool poster for Rocky III created by Tony Stella!

Source: Film ’89.

In response to Film ’89’s tweet featuring Tony Stella’s Rocky III poster, Stella posted the following…

Wow!  I was, pardon the expression since we’re talking about Rocky, knocked out.  I then clicked over to Stella’s Tumbler and fond other different and equally amazing posters created by Tony Stella for the Rocky films.   I think my favorite may be the Rocky II poster, but they’re all awesome.

Rocky Fans Shares His Collection!

SZer, BalboaRules sent in the following message with the photos shown.

Craig, a few years ago, I sent you some pictures of my Rocky collection, now in a new house, and just made some major changes to the line up.. what do you think?

I think that is one fine, well-displayed collection!  To get a better look, click on the photos! – Craig

Gotta love the Italian Stallion robe and all of the action figures!

The display cases are a nice touch.

Not many fans have movie prop clothes…

And here we see two!

I really like the fight advertisements for Rocky vs Apollo and Rocky vs Drago!

Even Rocky V gets props from this fan.  Well played.  Speaking of Rocky V, I always really liked the first Rocky V teaser poster.

And who doesn’t love the Rocky Brisk Ice Tea ads?

What a great collection and display room.  Thanks for sharing. – Craig

Rocky by Chris Visions

Chris Visions created this beauty for me last year for pick-up at HeroesCon.  I’d been a Chris Visions fan for some time and the opportunity to get a commission from him was one I’d couldn’t pass up.

Check out Chris’ site when you have some time to spare.  You’ll be amazed at his talent!

Oh, and if you’d like to get a print of my Rocky commission, you can.  Chris is offering giclée prints on 11×14 inch 100% cotton paper using Lucia inks for the highest quality. Free shipping in the US.  100% of the proceeds will go to help Chris during his recovery after his eye surgery.

Rocky was my first Chris Visions commission.  I hope it won’t be my last.

Sly Stallone Posts Rare 1st “Rocky” Poster Art by Tom Jung

For my money, the Rocky poster above is perfection.  Everything from the tagline (“His whole life was a million-to-one shot”) to the black and white photography of a fighter and his woman looking at each other surrounded by stark white (nothing else in their world matters) with their backs to the viewer.  The big, bold ROCKY.  I love this poster.  It’s a classic.

And it might not have been used if they’d gone with the first Rocky poster ever made!

Sly Stallone posted on his Instagram the art by Tom Jung below saying…

Very very very rare! Believe it or not this was the first poster ever made for the first ROCKY… Hand drawn.! This is the ONLY one in existence !!!!

Sly posts a lot of cool updates on his Sly Stallone Instagram.  Click on the link here and see what else Sly had to say about the Tom Jung art.

How “Gonna Fly Now” Made It Into “Rocky”

Rocky’s theme, Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti, Carol Connors and Ayn Robbins is arguably one of the greatest movie songs of all-time.  Over 40 years later, Gonna Fly Now is still instantly recognizable by folks of all ages, is used at sporting events of all kinds and remains a popular (and inspirational) workout song.

Surprisingly, another song was set to be Rocky’s Theme!  (One of the lyrics: “He has a Sunday punch that will knock you in to Monday!”)

Check out the short video below to learn how Gonna Fly Now made into into Rocky and film/music history.
