Robin Holstein’s Sly Art

I met Robin Holstein for the first time at this year’s Heroes Con.  I’d see a bit of Robin’s art online and so I made sure to swing by his table and meet him.  After talking to Robin a bit, I decided to commission a Stallone sketch from him.  Robin came up with the sketch above.  Upon seeing it, I immediately asked if he had room on his list for another piece — my buddy, LittleJohn312 was with me and he also asked to get on Robin’s list.  Lucky for us, Robin was able to fit us both in

You’ll see my second piece by Robin soon.  If you can’t wait and want to see more of Robin’s art now, you can at his site

Jesus Antonio’s Sly

I was going through the vault and came across this piece that Jesus Antonio did for me a while back.

Jesus Antonio is an artist who lives in MexicoJesus posts on quite a few sites and is always positive and complimentary of the artwork of others and humble about his own.  When I had the opportunity to get a few Stallone sketches and a sketchbook from Jesus, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.  You can see more of Jesus’ art here!

The Worst Music Movie Is… Not Rhinestone!

On September 16, 2011, The Huston Press posted a piece by John Seaborn Gray titled, The Five Worst Music Movies Ever.  Not surprisingly, Rhinestone made the list.  Surprisinly, it came in at #5.

According to this list Rhinestone is better than The Jazz Singer starring Neil Diamond, Glitter starring Mariah Carey and  Cool as Ice starring Vanilla Ice.  Is that a backhanded compliment to Rhinestone since Sly isn’t a singer and Neil Diamond, Mariah Carey and Vanilla Ice are.  Who knows?

What’s crazy is that the worst “music movie” on the list is Staying Alive. C’mon.  There’s no way that Staying Alive should be considered the worst.  Heck, I don’t even think it should make the list.

So Sly dodges the bullet of worst music movie with Rhinestone and still comes in at #1 worst with Staying Alive.  That’s the name of that tune… and I ain’t singing along.

Escape to Victory Caps Film Festival

On September 18, 2011, Express.co.uk posted a piece about a film festival in London showing 23 movies dedicated to football (soccer).  Particularly interesting to Stallone fans is that…

  • The last night, September 29, looks particularly inviting with a showing of cult classic Escape to Victory, in aid of the Bobby Moore fund, followed by a party featuring cast members Ossie Ardiles and Mike Summerbee.
  • Worth it for Sylvester Stallone’s goalkeeping alone.

Indeed. – Craig
