MSNBC.com‘s Ask the Reality Show Experts posted an insteresting answer to the following question: Will ESPN pick up the boxing reality show? Here’s a bit of their answer: Contender fans aren’t going down without a fight… NBC’s “The Contender” |

Executive producers Sugar Ray Leonard, Sylvester Stallone, and Mark Burnett are reportedly talking to ESPN about taking the series to the cable network for a second season… NBC has said they haven’t officially turned down the show yet. Last week Burnett told the New York Times that a renewal announcement was “highly likely” last week. There hasn’t been word yet, but all of these seem to add up to a return for “The Contender.” For full details click HERE. – Craig |

| Now that “Cinderella Man” is out and doing well, writers are creating their lists of the best boxing movies ever. I’m happy to say that “Rocky” is always listed and usually at the top.
Joe Holleman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch ranks “Rocky” at #2 and says, “Sylvester Stallone reinvented the underdog film with this Best Picture Oscar winner.” Louis B. Hobson of the Winnipeg Sun writes: Stallone deserves kudos for writing and starring in a simple, time-honoured story told with style, heart and passion. Stallone made Rocky Balboa a symbol of the extraordinary things ordinary people can achieve if they have a dream and the passion to pursue it. Nearly 30 years later, “Rocky” is still the standard! – Craig |

When Sly was interviewed by Larry King a couple of weeks ago, Sly announced
that he’d signed a deal for Rambo IV.
Sly even gave away a bit of the plot when he said that it would take place in the United States, that Rambo would have a wife and child that he would have to rescue, and the
movie would be more in the vein of “First Blood” and “Deliverance.”
The fact that Rambo is returning is now everywhere. Entertainment Weekly
posted THIS report. TV Guide posted an item HERE. You can also read Rambo IV
news HERE, HERE and even HERE.

The New York Daily News has reported that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that Sylvester Stallone once worked behind the scenes to smear him as
a Nazi sympathizer.
According to the article, Arnold believes that a comment that
he made in a Playboy interview in which he slammed Sly by
saying that Stallone “hired the best publicity agents [but]
there’s nothing anyone can do…to save his image” prompted
Sly to seek vengence by telling British reporter Wendy Leigh
that Arnold’s Austrian father helped round up Jews during the Holocaust and that Arnold remained a “secret admirer of Hitler.”
Sly has denied [through his reps] that he had anything to do with Leigh’s book.

On May 23, 2005, Variety.com reported that Sly Stallone will direct his long-discussed dream project: a movie about the life and death of Edgar Allen Poe. Sly has been talking about making this film for years and now it looks as if it will happen.
Stallone‘s choice [and it’s a great one] to play Poe is Robert Downey Jr.
Stallone will direct from his own screenplay.
Nu Image/Millennium Films will finance, produce and distribute the film which may start shooting this fall.
So… where does that leave Rocky VI and Rambo IV? Only time will tell. – Craig

Want to win Sylvester Stallone‘s desk? You can be the proud owner, if you’re the high bidder in a charity auction to benefit Sly‘s favorite charity, The Heart of a Child. The auction’s going on right now. I was going to bid, but the price is way out of my range. Heck, Sugar Ray and Jackie Kallen‘s desks are up for auction as well. But they’re not in the budget either. Still, maybe one of you ZONErs with deep pockets will win. If so, you can thank me later! : ) – Craig |
