Everyone is getting on the “Rocky Balboa” bandwagon!

Entertainment Weekly’s August 18, 2006 issue highlights “Rocky Balboa” in the “Things We’re Pumped for in December” section and calls it the “unlikely, but still stirring idea of Stallone climbing back into the ring for ‘Rocky Balboa.'” EW also runs a cropped version of today’s photo with a look at the film.

Here are a couple of excerpts: Adrian’s death “is a dramatic ploy to put Roc at rock bottom” and from Sly, “What they [Mason Dixon’s camp] don’t understand is that Rocky’s got this beast inside, this grief, and to him it’s not a fight, it’s a purging.”

  17. There are millions of fans waiting for Rocky to return. The Rocky series has influenced of sports(wo)men around the world and continues to be a source of inspiration for sports community even today.

    The Rocky movies would definately feature top in the list of movies that I would want my children and grandchildren to see.

  20. Any word yet on what the rock will weigh in for this fight? He definitely looks heavier than in previous movies. Maybe Stallone can actually weigh in as a heavyweight for this one, albeit a small heavy. How much does Stallone actually weigh? Last report I saw had him at around 196. Just curious.

This is such a great site/blog…AND it feels good to have a place to go to to share the Rocky Balboa excitement…I was pretty much the laughing stock this weekend when I shared the release date and trailer info with friends and family, whateva’…I love Rocky and am proud to admit it!!!! GO ROCKY GO!!!! I’ve never before been so anxious for winter to hit NY…already have a babysitter for 12/22/06 lined up!!! Keep up the GREAT work on this blog!!!

  22. I’m 30 years old and been a Sly/Rocky fan for as long as I can remember. I always looked up Stallone and that character (and still do), so needless to say I’m looking forward to seeing this new chapter in Balboa’s life and so is my 10 year old son, he also is becoming a Rocky fan. However, I have to say that I feel a little sorry for Mr. Stallone. And what I mean by that is: Even though Rocky and/or Rambo is what Sly will always be remembered for, I’m not sure the “general” public wants another Rocky movie (hopefully I’m wrong). And I hate to see Sly not succeed with a character that he truely loves and cares about. I mean he has already been critisized for doing a 6th film. I truely hope and pray it works for him in so many ways, because Sylvester Stallone has not been given near the credit for his films that he deserves. But you better believe that me, my wife, and son will be there opening day and see this great film, probably multiple times.

  27. that picture is so awsome, i love the shoes! i have them! its a honor to have the same shoes as such a hero like rocky! the rocky movies have been such a great addition to my life, everytime i feel like giving up i think of rocky and he pushes me further, WE LOVE YOU ROCKY, THE ONE AND ONLY ITALIAN STALLION!

    I think it’ll break 100 million in the domestic box office.

    This one’s NOT just another Rocky Sequel. It seems to have many elements of a “stand-alone” film. Much like the orignal.

    what a great picture. I’m a big Rocky fan and I think this is gonna be the best of all Rocky movies except the original Rocky from 1977. I’m looking forward to see the movie in december. This cool pictures are a good reason and motivates me to go to the gym. Thank you Sly!

  35. I loved Rocky I-II- and V. I thought Rocky III and IV were not even close to the caliber of the other three. The fight choreographer in Rocky I-II-and V was the same all the time Jimmy Gambina. In III and IV it was someone else. Stallone chose to try it again without Gambina, and he will probably stink again.

  38. Hey Anonymous, figure it out! Stalone DID NOT use Gambina for Rocky III and IV, and REFUSED to use him in Rocky VI. There is NO choreographer even close to Jimmy Gambina.

It is real simple, If you don’t like it, then do not go see it, but before you go and judge SLy or his decision to make another Rocky movie, compare how much money you have made with how much Sly has made with his decisions. Thanks you. The man knows what he is doing, and if you are a critic, than start your own page or something, but get the hell off this one, because this is for people who appreciate what he is doing!!   46. I also beleive that in the action genre Stallone is one of the best… I thinks its great that this movie is being made and I think it will be wonderful to bring back this landmark franchise, and also some of that magic thats sorly been missing from Hollywood latley.
