As an added bonus for SYLVESTER STALLONE / ROCKY fans, here’s Sly’s response to another question sent in by STALLONEZONErs!
Craig: Sly, fans would love for you to do commentary tracks if and when your movies are re-released on DVD. Are you up for that? Is this something you enjoy?
SYLVESTER STALLONE: I do enjoy it. You sit down and you just have a glass of wine and you start to look at something in the cold light of day and it’s good. And I think [if] you find humor in it, the one thing is, you know, you try not, at least I try not to take myself too seriously. But quite often when you’re doing the film you’re like you’re in this deep, you know, morass of moodiness. And you go, you’re not thinking straight but, you know, afterwards you go, “Oh that’s just a movie. Now lets talk about it and have some fun with it, maybe.”
Tell me dude,..who do YOU think was your best opponent? I like CLUBBER LANG myself!
Who do YOU think was Rockyies greatest opponent! I like CLUBBER LANG myself!
Any idea when it’s going to release in India?
The great thing about this movie is, I would have seen it even if it wasn’t a great sendoff. Even if it sucked I would have had to see it. There are so many closet Rocky fans in the world. When I got my ticket, one of the ticket sellers working at the theatre asked if I liked Star Wars and Star Trek and Lord of the Rings – I sort of looked at her with confusion and then almost contempt. I mean, I’ve seen those movies and they all have their positives but they are more for techno-geeks or just plain geeks. Rocky has a simpleness to it. An honesty that has universal appeal. A heart that transcends international, socio-economic, racial and ethnic boundaries. It is about taking your best shot at a dream and giving your best even if you don’t alway win – even if you never win – it is about the human spirit. Everyone can relate to that. I felt bad for Darth Vader and liked the scenery in Lord of the Rings but otherwise, they were nice stories. I’ve studied at the best schools in the US, spent time with some of the wealthiest folks on the planet and studied under Nobel Laureates. I’ve also been homeless, been a Marine trying to get my ass home, and lost some of the people I’ve loved most in the world. No matter where I was – Rocky spoke to me. The Trekies and techno-geeks don’t really get it. To those who strive for a dream through setbacks and sacrifice, there is only one Rocky – there will never be another.
