Frank Stallone & His Type of KO

On March 1, 2012, the Winnipeg Free Press ran a piece by Rob Williams titled: “This Stallone Prefers to Deliver KO Punch with His Music.”  The article (which is a good one) is, of course, about Frank Stallone.  Here are some tidbits:

  • On focusing on films over music: “I’ve got to say I’m regretful in a sense. I put my music on hold for a bit and started doing a lot of movies then people forgot I was a musician, which bothers me.”
  • On his agents: “…I always had bad management and bad agents… You know how you have people who can make something little into something big? I had people who made something big into something little.”
  • “All of the sudden you’re Rocky’s brother.  At first it was, ‘How’s your brother?’ Now it’s every other person: ‘How’s Rocky?’ It’s not even your brother anymore, it’s Rocky… You kind of disappear, which I wasn’t used to because I was the frontman in rock bands.”
  • “My brother, as famous as he is, would give up almost everything if he could sing. He’s the most frustrated singer in the world.

On March 3, 2012, “Sly’s Little Brother Takes Over the City” by Maureen Scurfield ran in the Winnipeg Free Press.

Dan Panosian Gets Carter Again!

This is Dan Panosian‘s second appearance in the StalloneZone sketch gallery.  His first was a drawing of Jack Carter that he gifted me at an FX Convention in Orlando

Dan is a big Stallone fan and really gets the Jack Carter character.   I love Dan’s art and hope this won’t be the last piece to go in my collection.

Check out more of Dan’s art here and here. Plan to spend some time, because everything he draws is worth a look!

Sly Stallone Event Raises $100, 000 for Charity

On February 24, 2012, The Spec.com posted a piece titled Sylvester Stallone Event Raises $100, 000 for Charity.  Here are some highlights:

  • “Rocky is done,” Stallone told about 900 people who paid to hear him in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
  • Stallone, in a question and answer session with movie critic Brian Johnson, did not rule out making another Rambo film.
  • Stallone said he did not set out to become an action star and that he was the 11th actor offered the role of Rambo in First Blood.
  • He has starred with such actors as Robert De Niro, but admitted to turning down roles in movies which could have changed his career. He turned down appearing in two Quentin Tarantino movies, as well as American Gigolo, An Officer and a Gentleman and Coming Home. He said turning down the latter film “was very foolish,” but he admitted he had his doubts if he could have been good enough for the searing drama, which eventually starred Jon Voight, Jane Fonda and Bruce Dern.
