Tom Hodges Goes to Cop Land
This week we have Sly from Cop Land by Tom Hodges. I discovered Tom’s art through his DA site. I saw that Tom was going to be drawing live on UStream so I commissioned several sketches which will be posted in the coming weeks. Tom still draws regularly on UStream and it’s always a blast watching him sketch and interacting with the crowd.
LotofSly: Elliott Goldenthal Autograph
That’s an autographed card for “Demolition Man” starring Sly Stallone and Wesley Snipes. It’s autographed by Elliott Goldenthal, the composer for Demolition Man. How cool is that?
My pal, Alex surprised me with a package containing it and several other Stallone-related autographs that I’m going to post on the SZ over the coming weeks. Alex, as you’ve probably guessed is also known as LotofSly on the SZ message boards where he also serves as one of our moderators [and now has his own section Me &…]. Alex has met more celebrities than anyone else I know, and he somehow always manages to get photos with them. That’s in addition to being an all-around nice guy… and as nice as Alex is THAT has to be a full time job!

On January 23, 2012, Business Insider posted a piece titled Ten Actors Who Hated Their Own Films. Leading off the piece, is a quote from Sly about Stop or My Mom Will Shoot!
- 1. Sylvester Stallone, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. Sly doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to his film career. Despite co-starring with the delightful Estelle Getty as the titular violence-prone mother, Stallone knows just how bad the film was:
- “I made some truly awful movies. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was the worst. If you ever want someone to confess to murder, just make him or her sit through that film. They will confess to anything after 15 minutes.”
Frank Stallone in Night Claws
On January 23, 2012, Fangoria posted a piece about the movie, Night Claws, which is a throwback to the R-rated, B-Movies that we’d get as the second feature at drive-ins [and would love]. Frank Stallone is one of the stars of the film and if you click over, you can see him in a trailer for the film.

Hey SZoners, here’s a recent photo of Sly that was sent to me yesterday from a source that wanted to remain anonymous. That’s an unusual request, so I cleared it with Sly and he was cool with me posting it. And yes, the photo was taken this week. Yes, Sly has found the fountain of youth — and it consists of discipline, diet and time in the gym!
Lance Sawyer Draws First Blood
Lance Sawyer makes his second appearance at the StalloneZone, this time with his riff on Sly as John Rambo from “First Blood.” I’ve been a fan of Lance’s art for a while. Recently I had a chance to purchase a few sketches from him and I could not be happier in how they turned out!
