Today we have the return of Evan Bryce and his riff on Sly as Cobra. I’ve been a fan of Evan’s art for a few years now and we’ve become friends via the internet. We’d met just once at Heroes Con in 2009 and I got a cool Sly from The Expendables sketch.
Evan didn’t make it back to Heroes in 2010 and he wasn’t supposed to be there this year. However he surprised everyone and made the trip. I asked for a Stallone character sketch of his choice and he went with Cobra and threw in the car and cityscape background as a bonus.
Evan is an exciting artist and one to keep an eye on. You can see more of his work at his blog or his Deviant Art site. Plan to spend a while.

That’s a nice photo [and there’s more] from an interesting page sent to us by SZoner, Didier.

On September 28, 2011, Haute Living posted a piece about The Expendables 2 cast arriving in Bulgaria to being filming.

On September 29, 2011, Novinite.com posted three photos of Sly arriving in Bulgaria to begin filming on The Expendables 2. Sly was quoted as saying…
The fight scenes in this movie will be much bigger and better than those in the first part. The scale of production is much larger, so it will get people in Bulgaria feel very proud. I want to tell them that we will have a great time and will spend lots of money here, which will help the economy. At the end everyone will be a winner.”

Would you like to buy some paintings once owned by Sly Stallone? You can if you’re the high bidder in an October 12th auction at Christie’s in New York. You can find out more at Examiner.com’s Sylvester Stallone’s Paintings in Christie’s Sale article.

I met Robin Holstein for the first time at this year’s Heroes Con. I’d see a bit of Robin’s art online and so I made sure to swing by his table and meet him. After talking to Robin a bit, I decided to commission a Stallone sketch from him. Robin came up with the sketch above. Upon seeing it, I immediately asked if he had room on his list for another piece — my buddy, LittleJohn312 was with me and he also asked to get on Robin’s list. Lucky for us, Robin was able to fit us both in.
You’ll see my second piece by Robin soon. If you can’t wait and want to see more of Robin’s art now, you can at his site.

The big news this week is that Liam Hemsworth has joined the cast of The Expendables 2.
