Stallone Would Make a Great Dark Knight

Whenever my buddies and I are talking movies and “dream casting” —  and I mention Sly for a role, someone ALWAYS makes the comment that I’d recommend Stallone for ANY role.

Well, that’s just not true…

… even though there are many roles that I think he could do [or have done well].

Seems I’m not alone.

When Robert Rodriguez was asked
in a recent interview who he thought would make a good Batman if “The Dark Knight Returns” was
ever made into a movie he responded with…

“I love “Dark Knight Returns”…I think Stallone and Bruce Willis would make great Dark Knights if they
ever did make Frank’s version of the movie. It would take an iconic actor like that to play such an iconic character.”

Hey, if Robert Rodriguez says that Sly would make a great Batman, well, who am I to argue?

POW – “First Blood” Rare Behind-the-Scenes

Our extremely rare POW [Picture of the Week] of Sly on location for filming of First Blood comes to us from the collection of Oliver Wegner who lives in Germany.

Some of you long time SZoners may remember Oliver was the webmaster of “The Sly World“, which unfortunately has been down for some years now.

Oliver is a huge “First Blood” fan and got this picture from a shop owner in Hope, British Columbia who took it when Sly was there filming First Bood.

Oliver is back with a very, very cool new website dedicated to First Blood called Rambotown. Check it out!

Thanks Oliver! – Craig

The Contender Making a Comeback?

The odds of The Contender returning next season are looking better all the time. On MondayJuly 18thESPN announced it was close to acquiring the rights for a second season of “The Contender.”

My guess is that if ESPN picks it up, Sly won’t appear each week. I say this for two reasons: 1] ESPN‘s budget won’t match NBC‘s and 2] Sly is gearing up for some major film work.

Still, I’m hoping that The Contender is able to make a comeback! – Craig
