It’s been reported that Sylvester Stallone has asked Benny Mardones and his songwriting partner [Grammy Award-winning producer], Michael Lloyd, to work on new songs for a planned Broadway production of the original “Rocky” and the next in line of the movie anthology the Philadelphia boxer made famous, “Rocky VI.” Mardones is best known for his song “Into the Night,” which reached Billboard‘s pop Top 20 twice, in 1980 and 1989. [A song I really liked!] Lloyd is best known for his producing credits on the soundtrack for “Dirty Dancing,” ” ‘You Light Up My Life” with Debbie Boone and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” for Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley from “An Officer and a Gentleman.” For full details click HERE. Sly, as chairman and founder of Instone, has been all over the news lately.
Instone and GNC [the #1 retail chain for nutritional supplements in the USA] have teamed to create the biggest launch ever for any nutrional product! Instone produces products ranging from supplements designed to increase muscle mass, or for use by anyone seeking a quick and healthy meal or snack. Other Instone products include meal replacement shakes, which will soon be packaged with a free educational fitness DVD starring Stallone.
Sly was inspired to create the line while working to lose the 44 pounds he gained for a role as a small-town sheriff in the movie Cop Land.

On May 17, 2004, Sly Stallone attended a casting call at the Trinity Boxing Club in New York to select fighters for ‘The Contender’. Sixteen boxers will compete in challenges and boxing matches over 16 episodes with the final winner claiming a million dollar prize. Frank Stallone and ‘Contender’ co-host, Sugar Ray Leonard were also in attendance.

Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes sent in the following pic and message: Doren was nice enough to mention that Sly was all over the current issue of Joe Weider’s FLEX ( June 2004 ). I scanned one of the many INSTONE ads in the mag and a cool behind the scenes pic of Stallone and bodybuilder Mike Matarazzo at the 2004 Arnold Classic.
Have a great one !
