Alexis Ziritt and Rambo

Alexis Ziritt makes his first appearance in my Stallone Theme Sketch Collection. Alexis is the co-founder of Fistful Apparel and the indie comics co-op Calavera Comics. When I saw that Alexis was taking sketch card commissions, I decided to get on board for a couple.  I asked Alexis to pick two from Jack Carter, John Rambo and Cobra Alexis liked the theme and decided to do all three.

You can see more of Alexis’ art here.

David Morrell and Rambo

One of the best things about creating and running the StalloneZone is the people I “meet” because of it.  This week I received an e-mail from one of my all-time favorite authors, David MorrellMr. Morrell is probably best known to fans here for creating Rambo in his novel First Blood.  [Mr. Morrell has written over 30 books in a wide range of genres and all are excellent.]

Mr. Morrell wants Stallone fans to know that his newly designed website has a Rambo page and that he recently finished up revisions of his novelizations of Rambo, First Blood Part II and Rambo III [both of which will contain lengthy introductions].

Check out Mr. Morrell’s site and if your interested in some of his other novels, pick any of them because you can not go wrong!

Eli Minaya’s Rambo

The Rambo drawing above is by the very talented Eli Minaya.  I met Eli at this year’s MegaCon.  I’d never seen Eli’s art before, but decided on the spot to see about getting a con sketch from him.  Eli was up for it and Rambo seemed the natural choice.  As you can see from the piece above, it was.

You can see more of Eli’s art at his site.

Sly, Rocky & Rambo: Awesome Dudes

Over at IFC, they decided to post a piece “in honor of ‘John Carter,’ ten awesome dude movies with dude’s names for titlesSly was the only actor to make the list twice [for “Rocky” and “Rambo”].  Here are some tidbits…

  • ROCKY: You tell me who’s more of a man’s man in Hollywood than Sylvester Stallone. I dare you. And don’t even start with all the Chuck Norris business. Stallone is The Dude to end all dudes… “Rocky” is a rags to riches, come from behind, American Dream story that every man can relate to, and one that millions have probably tried to emulate in one way or another. Stallone not only starred in the classic (and the subsequent sequels), but he also wrote and directed the film. Now that’s a guy who’s worthy of the title of Ultimate Dude.
  • RAMBO: No one believed that Stallone could make another great Rambo movie, especially when the actor was already over sixty years old. Well, he certainly proved everyone wrong… “Rambo” is easily one of the greatest Dude Movies of all time and is the perfect way to end this list.
