“Rambo” a 2008 Favorite
Several critics over at the San Francisco Bay Guardian On-LIne site weighed in with their Favorites from 2008. Jesse Hawthorne selected “Rambo” as one of his and said this:
Rambo (Sylvester Stallone, USA/Germany) Sly captures American destruction and cynicism in half the time as PT Anderson’s meandering There Will Be Blood (2007).
Rambo Makes “Best Films” List
Jeff Allard at ShockTilYouDrop.com lists his choices for Best & Worst Horror Films of 2008. Surprisingly, he places “Rambo” on the Best Film list! Here’s his rationale:
Sylvester Stallone’s return to one of his signature roles wasn’t horror, of course, but Rambo is a film no genre fan can afford to ignore…

Rambo Will Be Back… Hopefully
TMZ caught up with Sly as he was driving away. Sly made a couple of jokes and then confirmed that “Rambo will be back… hopefully.”
I’m glad that Sly wants the story to be right, rather than just rushing a movie to the screen to make a buck. It will be worth the wait. – Craig

Rocky vs Rambo
On January 23, 2008, Cole Haddon profiled Sly and his work on bringing Rocky and Rambo back to the big screen. In the piece Sly talks about his debate with Quentin Tarantino in regard to the artistic choice to not kill off Rambo, how vanity got in the way of earlier movies, and how age has added a certain weight and responsibility to Rocky and Rambo. The ad above appears in the August 2008 issue of Previews which goes out to comic and specialty shops throughout the USA.
I’m especially proud of this piece since the original sculpture first appeared on the StalloneZone. I was then contacted by Hollywood Collectibles and asked if I could put them in touch with Edhino, the artist who created the piece. I did and the rest is history.

Rambo V Mentioned
At the end of this article at The Hollywood Reporter.com, Jay A. Fernandez lists movies that are in production at Lions Gate. He says we can look forward to:
- “Warrior,” which Gavin O’Connor co-wrote and will direct;
- “Conan,” a fast-tracked project with multiple scripts in the works;
- “Severance Package,” with Brett Simon writing and directing;
- “Rambo V,” to be written and directed by Sylvester Stallone;
- “Korean Wedding” from writer Jason Filardi; and
- “Kane & Lynch,” a video game adaptation that will star Bruce Willis.
Obviously, the “Rambo” news excites me the most, but I also look forward to seeing what they do with “Conan” and “Severance Package” [I really enjoyed the novel]. – Craig

Rambo was a winner at the 9th Annual Golden Trailer Awards. The awards which honor the best in movie trailers and posters chose Rambo for the top spot in the Most Original Poster category.
