Jeremy Richey posted his review of “Rambo” on his blog and a quote rang so true that I wanted to post it here:
“…if someone like Spielberg’s name was attached to this film exactly as it is, it would be greeted as a revisionist classic by the same critics who are currently trashing Stallone.”

Rambo Fan Animation
Andre Duchesne is a new SZoner. He sent in a couple examples of work he’s done on some Rambo animations. He takes actual dialogue from Rambo movies and creates scenes. I’ve seen a brief example and he’s very good. Andre promises to send us a link once he’s completed it! – Craig

Sam Hiti is the Xeric Award-Winning creator of the critically acclaimed Tiempos Finales graphic novel (optioned as a film by Universal Studios/Focus Films). Sam is currently hard at work finishing up his next book Death-Day. Sam has also illustrated the Official Comic Book Adaptation for A Series of Unfortunate Events Movie from Nickelodeon, a Nike comic project, worked with and created illustrations for the New York Times, Disney Magazine and his creator owned work, Gallows Noose, Phenoms, and Long Dark Train! His latest work Ghoulash, shows some of his best sketches to date!

Entertainment Weekly: They’re Back, Baby!
The October 20, 2006 issue of Entertainment Weekly features and article titled, “They’re Back, Baby” by Tim Stack. Stack looks at six movie franchises that are set to return to the big screen: “Jurassic Park IV,” “Indiana Jones 4,” “Terminator 4,” “Live Free or Die Hard,” and “Rocky Balboa” / “Rambo IV.”

Franchise Gross to Date: $488 million [Rocky] / $250 million [Rambo]
After failed attempts at establishing street cred [Cop Land, Get Carter], Stallone has fallen back on his two most iconic characters. Rocky Balboa [Dec. 22], the sixth entry, finds the now-widowed boxer returning to the ring despite being old enough to be his competitor’s grandfather. “I started writing it about three years ago,” Stallone told EW this summer. “The people at MGM at that time were not interested on any level.” Stallone’s persistence also paid off with the next Rambo adventure. That one is set to begin shooting in January in Thailand, a country which has seen its share of drama in recent months. Hanging out in a spot that just had a military coup? Rambo wouldn’t have it any other way.

I just finished a big animation project and I’ll have some free time soon, so I’m planning on animating a rambo clip / trailer or something. I figure, we might as well get the Rambo IV buzz going so long 🙂
So I’ve attatched my first rough concept drawing, let me know what you think. I’ll do an animation test soon and show you.
Cool man, keep doing what you’re doing! Hope you have enough energy for the Rambo Blog too….I think they’ll get you onto that one soon…hahahaha

Samuel Hiti and his Rambo Quotes of the Week!
Samuel Hiti is a 30-year-old artist, who made his graphic novel debut in New York with his Xeric Award-winning “End Times/Tiempos Finales.”
One of the biggest buzz books of 2004, Mike Mignola, creator of the cult favorite “Hellboy,” said it was the best graphic novel of the year; and Samuel was nominated for “Best New Talent” for the 2005 Harvey Awards. Samuel has worked for major companies such as Nike, The New York Times, Disney, and adapted The 2004 Paramount/Dreamworks movie of “Lemony Snicke t- SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS” into comic book form for Nickelodeon magazine.
I discovered Samuel’s site while surfing the web. While enjoying Samuel‘s art, I also learned that he’s a Rambo fan. Samuel recently drew a scene from Rambo and had so much fun with it, that he now does a Rambo Quote of the Week. Samuel graciously agreed to me posting a couple of examples here on the SZ. Action Figure Digest: Rocky and Rambo!
The March 2006 issue of Tomart’s Action Figure Digest features early prototypes of the new Rocky figures on the cover as well as a two page spread featuring over 20 images of the additional characters and items which will be offered.
Here are some highlights:
* Approximately 40 to 50 figures will be produced
* All of the lead characters will be featured with figures from each film
* Key secondary and tertiary characters from all films will also get a figure [even the robot from Rocky IV!]
* A new series will be issued every one to two months starting in October 2006
This issue also features a pic of the Sideshow Collectables HALO Rambo!
The mag is well worth the price of admission and can be found on newstands now.
