Sly and the Family Stallone News for the Week…
Rocky’s theme, Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti, Carol Connors and Ayn Robbins is arguably one of the greatest movie songs of all-time. Over 40 years later, Gonna Fly Now is still instantly recognizable by folks of all ages, is used at sporting events of all kinds and remains a popular (and inspirational) workout song.
Surprisingly, another song was set to be Rocky’s Theme! (One of the lyrics: “He has a Sunday punch that will knock you in to Monday!”)

Don’t Judge a Book …
Underneath everybody’s persona is a dear person. After Richard Gere left The Lords of Flatbush, I joined and met Sly Stallone. Talks like a tough guy, but he’s so dry and funny.
These two photos are very rare shots of Sly, his co-stars and crew behind the scenes on the set of Rocky III. They were taken by Donna Green-Townsend the day she played an extra for the film. Donna shares her experiences from that day as well as several other equally rare photos in her post Reflecting on Rocky: My Time As A Movie Extra. Stallone fans are going to love it.
