On September 10, 2009, Variety.com posted a piece about films shooting in Louisiana and of course “The Expendables” leads the way. You can read the piece here.

On September 10, 2009, SFGate.com ran a piece about unusual names celebrities have given their children. Of course, Sage Moonblood Stallone’s name made the list along Apple [Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin], Moxie Crimefighter [Penn and Emily Jillete], Rocket Rodriguez [Robert Rodriguez and Elizabeth Avellan], Tu Morrow [Rob and Debbon Morrow].
You can check out the whole piece here.
A few days later Fashion.ie posted an even longer list of unusual celebrity names with “witty” commentary.

On September 9, 2009, Blic Online posted a piece by A. Novakovik about director Berry Avrich’s documentary “Amerika Idol,” which tells how folks in the small Serbian village of Zitiste erected a statue of Rocky Balboa to represent their underdog status. We’ve been following the story here at StalloneZone and thanks to the Blic Online piece we learn a bit more:
The 46-minute-long documentary Amerika Idol will feature the appearances of Sylvester Stallone, Thomas Schomberg – the sculptor behind Rocky’s original statue in Philadelphia, Croatian sculptor Boris Staparac, who made the statue in Zitiste…

Harry at AICN has scored again. This time he has a copy of the synopsis to “Rambo V: The Savage Hunt.” The plot does sound like an adaptation of the novel Hunter written [with Sly in mind] by James Byron Huggins. Since I’ve always pulled for Sly to make Hunter, I like the idea of adapting it to fit Rambo. I also like the Harry thinks that they should drop the “V” from the movie title [I suggested the same thing yesterday] and simply call the movie “Rambo: The Savage Hunt.”
You can read Harry’s full post here.

Mike Torrance is an artist who does it all — he pencils, inks and colors. Mike has been running a regular contest at Retro Cowboy Productions and his Deviant Art site. Each week he posts a subject and the first one to make request which fits the theme is the winner! I was one of two lucky winners for “Detective Week.”
Mike is available for commissions and his prices are very reasonable. Check him out.

It’s been a while since we heard from Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes. So it was good to hear word that things are well and receive photos of the two pieces of Stallone art he’d recently started on.

Hey guys,
Sketchin Sly little bit again. I paused this particular frame I love from JOHN RAMBO and tried to capture that energy.
One of the things I’ve always wrestled with as an artist is bringing my love of the rough “unfinished ” drawing into the painting realm. I’m gonna try it I think. I think that Ashley Wood guy sorta blends those to things together very nicely…
The one below I started last night.
I found an amazing Sergio Toppi video on youtube and it inspired me. I might add a comic type caption box, some palm trees and a couple of gawking fans way back in the distance.
The text could be something like… Stallone slipped into a daydream during a stroll through Beverly Hills when the entire idea and cast for The EXPENDABLES came flooding into Sly’s mind.
Or something to that effect.
More sketches and a new domain on the web soon too http://www.theartofjazzman.com/pages/newnewsPG.htm

It’s always great to hear from Jazz. I’m always impressed with his art and these last two pieces show that he continues to grow as an artist. Keep in touch, Jazz and thanks for sharing your talents.

On Friday, September 4th, Harry @ AICN posted about a conversation he had with Sly about the plot of the next Rambo movie. Tentaively titled, “Rambo V: The Savage Hunt,” the story follows Rambo, who is brought to the Pacific Northwest to lead a Black Ops team, as they hunt down a genetically enhanced soldier created in a secret muilitary project. Although Sly is still working on the story, it’s obvious that he’s ready to take Rambo in a new an unexpected direction.
Later Harry updated the report with a voice message from Sly himself [which you can hear] talking about his plans for Rambo. You can read and hear the report here.
I like the new direction that Sly is leading Rambo. Almost reminds me of the plot of Hunter (which I would still like to see Sly do). I also like the proposed title for the film, but I would drop the “V” and just call it “Rambo: The Savage Hunt.”
