Sly Checks In

Sly has been following some of the discussions on the message boards and wanted to set the record straight:

Dear Craig,

For the doubters and the haters, a picture is worth a thousand words. You
walk the walk, you pay a price. But, as bad as it was at least we have it on
film.

Keep punchin’
Sly

P.S. To the haters, I don’t need to invent pain, there’s enough of it out
there to go around.

P.S.S. The reason I was never seen in a neck brace is because I stayed home
for three weeks to heal.

P.S.S.S. Van Damme may mean a great deal to some of you, but what he’s
putting forth is not truthful.

So there you have it, SZoners.  Don’t waste your time arguing with the doubters and the haters.  – Craig

Sly & Arnold Are Friends

On January 6, 2010, The Hindu posted a piece titled “Arnold is My Best Friend Now Says Sylvester Stallone”.  The past rivalry between Sly and the Governor of California is a thing of the past. Sly is quoted as saying:

“He’s my best friend now. It’s strange, given what big rivals we used to be. He’s still ridiculously competitive, though. I have a watch, only one of its kind in the world, so I wore it to our last lunch. Arnold was desperate for me to get him one but I had to explain that wasn’t possible. He was so mad!”

Of course this is not news to any Schwarzenegger or Stallone fan since the two action superstars have been friends for several years.  Still, I thought SZoners would find it interesting. You can read the full piece here.

Diego Sanchez Inspired by Sly

Diego Sanchez, referenced Sly when talking about preparation for his title fight with BJ Penn Diego said:

“I flip the switch and when the switch flips, its just like that movie ‘Over the Top’ when he (Sylvester Stallone) turns his hat back,” he added. “There’s no looking back. I don’t see the crowd, I just see B.J. Penn and I see my cage. And I’m the king of this cage. It’s my territory.”

Burt Reynolds Says Sly May Be Easy

On December 6, 2009, PBPulse.com posted a short interview with Burt Reynolds and he talks a bit about several of the films he’s worked on.  Here’s what he had to say about “Driven”:

Driven: “There was a wonderful scene with Sly (Stallone), where I was telling him how I’d driven fast my whole career, and now I couldn’t get out of this chair. He was off-camera, and I could see he’d started to tear up. And I thought, ‘Either I’m doing something right, or he’s easy.’”
