Mike Torrance Gets Carter

Mike Torrance aka The Krayola Kidd did this for me earlier this week.  Mike Torrance does it all – pencils, inks and colors. You can see more of Mike’s art at The Daily Sketch with The Krayola Kidd and his Deviant Art site.

You’re also going to be happy to know that once a month Mike has a contest for someone to win a free sketchcard! This sketch of Jack Carter was what I chose when I won!  What would you choose?

Mike is available for commissions and his prices are very reasonable. I just ordered four cards [three Stallone pieces and one for a friend so the subject must remain secret… at least until he gets it.]

Thomas Boatwright’s Jack Carter

This is the third, and at this point, last sketch by Thomas Boatwright that I have to post.  My first was this First Blood piece.  This sketch of Sly as Barney Ross from The Expendables was the second piece.  I totally dig them all [although the Jack Carter is probably my favorite].

If you’d like to see more of Thomas Boatwright’s art check out his blog and his DA site. Send him some love. If you get commissions, you should consider a piece from Thomas. He keeps you totally in the loop on his progress, finishes his commissions on or ahead of schedule, has very reasonable prices and is a fantastic artist! – Craig

Andy Kuhn’s Jack Carter

Andy Kuhn does the best sketches!  He is a master of spotting blacks and knowing just what needs to be put in and more importantly left out.  I love Andy’s sense of design so I was extremely pleased to get on his sketch list at Heroes Con and asked him for Jack Carter.  As you can see he rocked it.  You can check out more of Andy’s art at his blog and his DA site.

Dustin Harbin’s Jack Carter

This week we have Dustin Harbin‘s look at Jack CarterDustin is a freelance illustrator working out of Charlotte, NC.  I’ve known Dustin for years through his outstanding work with Heroes Con.  It was only recently that I discovered Dustin’s talent for cartooning.

Well, you just know I had to see Dustin’s riff on Sly.  I hope you dig it as much as me.  Dustin will be back soon with his take on Sly as Freddy from “Cop Land.” Until then check out Dustin’s blog and give him some love.

Chris Stevens: Jack Carter

I’ve been a huge fan of Chris Stevens’ art since I first discovered him on Deviant Art.  When I first met Chris, he was pretty much an unknown artist just starting to make waves.  He wasn’t even a guest at the show.  Suddenly Chris burst on the scene and it seemed everyone loved his style.  And why wouldn’t they?  The following year, Chris was a featured guest and a line of fans that would make any artist proud!

When I found out that Chris was putting together his first sketchbook, I knew I was going to want one.  The fact that Chris included free headshots with advance purchases was a beautiful bonus.  I’m hoping that Chris will have a new edition sketch book next year, and will offer the same deal again!  Until then, we have Chris DA Art Gallery to hold us over!

Sanchez’s Rocky, Rambo & Jack Carter

When Steven Sanchez announced that he was doing the Sketchshots, the timing was perfect. I jumped on board and asked for three of my favorite Stallone characters [Rocky, Rambo and Jack Carter].

Steven not only agreed, we exchanged a couple of e-mails and he finished the piece within 24 hours. [Probably much less]. How often does that happen… and with fantastic results.

I hope to get more from him in the future and highly recommend him to others looking for a commission.  You can see more of Steven’s art here. – Craig
