The #1 Sylvester Stallone Fan Site in the World!
SZoner, and long-time Sylvester Stallone fan, Alain Haimovici attended one of Sly‘s press conferences recently while Sly was in France to attend a film festival. Alain has this to report:
“Sly will do a cameo in the French movie Taxi 3 (he wil play his own role), the second sequel of Taxi directed by Gérard Krawczyk, starring Samy Nacery and Frederic Diefenthal. It’s a movie about a taxi driver without a licence (Nacery) and his friend, a cop (Diefenthal). It’s a mix of action and humour.
All the movies take place in Marseilles, France. They’re produced by Luc Besson (director of La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element…) and producer of The Transporter.
Sly also said he could star in movies produced by Besson in the future.
My opinion : Taxi is a good movie, very entertaining, but Besson, a great director, produced often bad movies (no stories, just action). So Sly sholud be very careful…“
Thanks Alain!

SZoner, “Joe Tanto Hummer” sent in a bunch of pictures that he had taken, over the years, of his visits to Stallone movie premieres, Planet Hollywood openings, and the like. Unfortunately most of the pictures were taken without a flash at night or had glare or something that prevented them from being used. We did want to share these EXCLUSIVE pics from Joe.

This is a cool candid that Tanto picked up of Sly and one of his paintings.

Here’s a shot of Sly and Jen at a 1995 Planet Hollywood opening.

Tanto wanted to be sure that we all got to see this building-sized poster for Tango and Cash!
Thanks to Joe for sharing! – Craig Zablo [September 28, 2002]

Simon Barber, the webmaster of Frank Stallone‘s website, gave us a heads up earlier in the week that the StalloneZone was featured in an article about “good” websites in the UK magazine Total Film. When Simon got his copy he was nice enough to send us scans of the coverage.
Thanks to Simon for his kindness. Check out Simon‘s work at Frank‘s site [and tell him we sent you!]

Also remember that Frank Stallone is hosting a showing of one of the Rocky films on ESPN Classic’s ‘Reel Classics‘ every Sunday night in June at 9pm EST/6PM Pacific. Frank will also share the inside stories, and display his extensive collection of boxing memorabilia!

When ERNEST “Jazzman” RESENDES sent this to me, I immediately called my wife into the room and showed it to her. She looked at the photo and said, “So it’s true, there will be a fourth Rambo. That’s a cool poster. Bet you can’t wait until next summer.”
When I told her that the movie was still rumor and the poster was created by Jazz for the SZ, she said, “Well if they do decide to make the movie they should use Jazzman’s poster.”
I couldn’t agree more!

Hennie Blaauw returns after too long of an absence with not one, but TWO very nice wallpapers.
Hennie would like to also give credit for some of the Jennifer Flavin-Stallone images to Justin Thyme’s Jennifer Flavin Gallery. – Craig Zablo

Here are four interesting Sly tidbits:
1. In the September 10, 2001 issue of US Weekly, Sly is mentioned in Michael Lewittes “The Scene” column: Sylvester Stallone, in an olive-green suit, chomping on a cigar and eating dinner with 15 Minutes writer-director John Herzfeld in the back of Elaine’s in New York.
2. SylvesterStallone.com updated last week with three voice messages from the man himself. Sly talks about the possibility of Rocky 6, Rocky on Broadway, several tv series that he is developing (but not going to star in, plus Avenging Angelo, Dolan’s Cadillac, and more!
AIN’T IT COOL NEWS posted a news item (written by SZ regular Andrew aka ABKing) about the update as well.
3. On Tuesday, Dark Horizons posted information from a Q & A session with director Paul Anderson. Sly fans will be excited to hear that Anderson’s next project is “Death Race 3000” and that Anderson is confident that Tom Cruise will play the lead character and Anderson “mentioned that he wanted Sylvester Stallone to return and play the same role that he played in the original.”
4. TV Today (a German magazine) recently ran piece on Celebrity Websites. We are proud to say that the Sylvester Stallone site that they chose to profile was Craig Zablo’s StalloneZone! That’s right, SZoners, we were recognized in Germany! Thanks to Lot Of Sly for giving us the heads-up on the article. I would also like to thank John Beatty, Ernest “Jazzman” Resendes, and Rob “rOb” deVera – the best non-paid staff anywhere. I would also like to thank all of the SZoners who support our efforts… and of course Mr. Sylvester Stallone. (The article is reprinted above — if anyone could translate it, it would be greatly appreciated!)

The StalloneZone was created in 1996. Since our inception, we have always posted updates at least once a week. We take great pride in that we have NEVER missed an update. Before going on vacation, I would always update TWO Galleries, and John “Big” Beatty would post our new POW as well as any “breaking” news.
This system had always worked flawlessly… until last week. While I was on vacation, my credit card company sent out new cards with new numbers. Unfortunately this happened during a billing cycle for the SZ, and to make matters worse, I have the SZ automatically paid on the same credit card. To complicate matters even more, I was on vacation in the “wilds” of North Carolina and had no easy internet access!
Needless to say, it was very frustrating to find out that the SZ was down. What was even more frustrating was the fact that had I been at home I could have resolved the matter with a single e-mail. After several phone calls I was able to get in contact with the server for the SZ. I was assured that the SZ would be back on-line within three hours. I contacted BigBeatty to let him know. He said he would get the POW up right away and send out an e-mail to all SZoners. Everything was right again, or so I thought.
Two days later I was able to get to a computer and I discovered that the SZ was still down. After several more phone calls I was assured that the problem was corrected. I contacted BigBeatty and he confirmed we were back in action. Whew!
Although we were able to get our POW up (and keep our record intact), we were very late in doing so. For that I want to apologize. From the e-mails and message board postings that I have received so far, it seems that most of you were aware of the problem (thanks, BigJ) and how we were working to correct it (thanks again, BigJ). We have several updates scheduled for this week. So, thanks again for your patience and kind words. I’ve said it before and will say it again (because it is so true): Sylvester Stallone has the best fans in the world!

Chris Heathcoat is a longtime Sly Stallone fan and STALLONEZONE “regular.” Chris was lucky enough to attend the Driven premiere and generous enough to share his pics with us. (Chris did the same for the Get Carter premiere.

Unfortunately, there was a delay in getting the photos to us… still Chris did capture a REALLY great shot of SLY and and this to say:
“Craig:
Not requesting that it is a must, but if there is anything printed about my feeling about the clearest shot of Sly, as I look at it in my 22 years of experience with him it is this…

…From Fans to Critics, many people look at this man and think of his movies repeating a few quotes from his characters that fascinate them. I however see a man who kept me away form temporary highs and gave me one thrill film a year from 1979 (Rocky II) to 2001 (Driven) and when I see this picture I see a man who proves dreams do come true. Thank you Sylvester Stallone!” – Christopher E. Heathcoat
