“The Expendables” Bootleg Promo

Earlier this week a “bootleg” trailer for “The Expendables” hit the net.   It was only up a short time before Lionsgate called for it’s removal.  Since “The Expendables” doesn’t open until August of next year, the powers-that-be want to make sure that promotions don’t peak too early and that what is out there is official.  Despite the short time the trailer was up, several sites picked up on it and here’s some of what they had to say:

Sly Still Has “Death Wish”?

On October 15, 2009, Moviehole, posted about Jason Statham taking on Charles Bronson’s role in “The Mechanic” remake. There was also a tidbit about Sly telling Empire magazine that he’s still considering the Bronson role in the “Death Wish” remake.  Here’s a bit of what Sly had to say:

  • “I’m thinking about it… It’s a classic morality tale, where you take a civilised man and take away everything that matters to him so he becomes primitive again… The trouble with remakes is that people fall in love with the original. It’s like peanut butter. If you try to change the taste of peanut butter, you’re in trouble.”

Otis Frampton’s Rambo

Otis Frampton is an extremely talented artist who loves drawing for his fans. Every Sunday [okay, ALMOST, every Sunday], Otis has a live UStream broadcast that he calls the 7×7 Sunday.  Lucky fans can get a headsketch of ANY character drawn live by Otis on a 7X7 inch bristol board for 7 bucks postage paid.   It’s the best deal going.

I’ve been lucky enough to get four pieces from Otis and the Rambo shown above is my first.  I’ll be showing the rest in the coming weeks.  In the mean time, check out Otis’ Gallery.  Most likely, after seeing more of his work, I’ll be competing against you in Otis’ next 7×7 Sunday.

Frank Stallone in Florida

We’ve just received word that Frank Stallone will be in Edgewater, Florida on November 8th and 9th.  On Sunday, November 8th at 2:00pm, Frank will be signing autographs, selling C-d’s and photo’s at City Line Pizza [613 North Ridgewood Ave. Edgewater, Florida 32132].  There is no cost for this event.

Frank will also be singing on Monday, November 9th at 7:00pm at New Smyrna Beach Middle School [1200 South Myrtle,  New Smyrna, Florida 32168].  Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door with limited seating.  Call Joe for tickets at 386-314-3182.

I’m hoping to make one, if not both of the events and will report back with photos!

Sly & Mario Barth

The October 8, 2009, Los Angeles Times posted “Vegas Wins with Tattoos for Soccer Moms” by Richard Abowitz. The article was about how tattooing has gone mainstream and how over 40,000 people recently attended a tattoo convention put together by Mario Barth [one of the tattoo artists who worked on Sly’s ink]. That’s Barth in the photo with Sly above.

Hollywood Collectibles Update

After last week’s post about Edinho Maga’s new Rambo sculpture, I was contacted by Mark at Hollywood Collectibles.  Here’s what Mark had to say:

Hey Craig,

I saw the piece about the new Rambo 18″ (actually around 20″ with base), that Edinho has sculpted for us. This isn’t a spec piece by Edinho, we commissioned him to do it & it is going to be produced.  When the time comes we will offer your forum guys a discount again.

You may also be interested to know we also recently picked up the license for both 12″ & 18″ statues from Rocky! This covers all the movies, so we are starting to develop product now. Also a 1:1 lifesize  Rocky bust is in the pipeline too!

Hope all is well.

Best,

Mark

SZoners, how cool is that?  Now we know for sure that Hollywood Collectibles will be involved, not only with the production of Edinho’s new Rambo sculpture, but Rocky statues as well as a life size Rocky bust.

I am really glad that Hollywood Collectibles is invovled.  They put out a great product, and have always treated SZoners right.  Keep in mind that the last Rambo statue sold out quickly.    I will keep us  posted on updates about the Rocky and Rambo statues so that SZoners will be first to know when they become available.  As always, thanks to Mark and the rest of the fine folks at Hollywood Collectibles for keeping us in the loop.

Dick Giordano’s Demolition Man

Dick Giordano, the comics legend is back! During his fifty plus years in the biz he’s done everything from ink all the greats (including himself) to serve as Editor-in-Chief of DC Comics, to co-founding his own comic company.

I recently had the good fortune to pick up six model sheet headsketches of Sly that Mr. Giodano did before starting work on DC Comics adaptation of “Demolition Man”.  This is the fourth.

Sly Fan Art

SZoner, Israel, runs a Sylvester Stallone site in Brasil. Israel regularly posts artwork from Clodoaldo Rodrigues. That’s a piece by Clodoaldo posted above. If you want to see more of his work or Israel’s site, then click here.
