Sly and His Ride

On March 21, 2010, MSN.uk posted a piece called Hollywood Stars and Their Cars.  The photo above ran with this:

More on “The Expendables” Comic

On March 30, 2010, Digital Spy posted a piece about The Expendables comic series coming from Dynamite EntertainmentChuck Dixon, who is adapting Sly’s Expendables screenplay had this to say:

I think (I hope) I captured Stallone’s vibe. His dialogue here is very distinctive and there’s a kind of shorthand between these characters who know each other so well. Trying to capture that has been the toughest part. But it’s also liberating in a way because I’m free to use his language as a guide for improvisation.”

On the Box also posted a piece about “The Expendables” comic prequel.  Here’s a quote from Chuck Dixon about what we can expect to see in the series:

“Lots of violence committed by guys who, while not morally ambivalent, they are certainly morally expedient. The restraints are off a bit more here. The action more bloody. The settings more realistic.”

New “Expendables” Trailer Hits

A new trailer for The Expendables hit today, but first let’s take a look at some of the screenshots…

… like this one of Sly and Arnold Schwarzenegger

… or this one with Bruce Willis and Sly

… Here’s Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li [who may be about to get the point]…

… But since this is The StalloneZone, here’s a shot of Sly

… and another…

… Here’s Sly calling out Steve Austin

Parting is such sweet sorrow…

I would say something about Sly hitting the mark with The Expendables but that would be too corny…

And now Sylvester Stallone

and the greatest action cast ever assembled in a new trailer for The Expendables.

Sly, Piers Morgan & Simon Cowell

Piers Morgan, in a column for dailymail.co.uk, talks about when he and Simon Cowell were having dinner in LA and bumped in to Sly:

Enjoyed another fun night at Soho House – now officially THE coolest place to be in LA – where I bumped into Sylvester Stallone and Simon Cowell.

The former was wearing very large sunglasses.

‘Sly, great to see you,’ I said. ‘Isn’t it a bit dark for those?’

‘Yes, absolutely, but I’ve got a sty on my eye.’

He slowly pulled down the shades to reveal a whopping great big, inflamed bump.

‘In fact, I’m thinking of changing my name to Sty Stallone.’

‘Fancy doing my chat show?’ I asked.

‘Of course,’ he replied. ‘You’re the best.’

Cowell nearly choked on his beer.

‘No, he’s not.’

‘He is.’

‘He’s not. He’s the worst.’

‘He is?’ Sly turned back to me.

‘Sorry, I made a terrible mistake. Apparently you’re the worst.’

Cowell giggled loudly. Little things really do please little minds.

“Go for it!”

On March 25, 2010, USAToday posted a piece showing how movie lines are making their way into the political debates on health care.  Here’s where Sly comes in…

Then there’s the money line in Obama’s speech, his challenge to Republicans who want to repeal the health care bill: “Go for it.”

The Oval can’t help but wonder if the president was flashing on the less-than-classic Rocky III, released in 1982. Before the big fight, Sylvester Stallone’s heroic underdog character is confronted by the evil Clubber Lang (played by none other than Mr. T.)

“I’m going to bust you up,” Clubber says.

Rocky’s response: “Go for it.”

Needless to say, Rocky triumphs and goes on to another sequel.
